TIL George Mallory reportedly answered โBecause itโs thereโ when asked why he wanted to climb Everest while touring the U.S. to raise funds. He perished on Everest in 1924, likely during the descent. His body was found in 1999, 75 years later, remarkably preserved by the cold.

This might be the best case to ban all ALPR Cameras after flock cameras just ruined an innocent Florida womanโs life.
Cops used one ALPR hit to pin a triple-fatal hit-and-run on 23-year-old Lindsey Isaacs. Seized her undamaged black Durango, claimed โdamage,โ then arrested her 6 months later after she sued to get it back.
She sat in jail 13 days facing life in prison.
They ignored the maroon paint transfer, the partial plate that didnโt match, the airbag that never deployed, and witnesses. Just took the first Durango Flock flagged.
7 months of hell. Charges finally dropped when they got the actual driver.

A couple of thoughts:
- We cannot be held hostage by industries that have grown addicted to low-wage illegals. It's a felony that undercuts American wages.
- I refuse to believe that Americans are unwilling or unable to do jobs like roofing. If you pay Americans a decent wage, the workers will come.
- If we are going to restore American sovereignty, and the rule of law, it will require sacrifice. These are relatively small in historical terms. Certian goods might cost more, even burritos!
This is the central question of our time: Are Americans tough enough or strong enough to take our medicine and save the country?
๐ Keith Woods: Amazing clip. "The individualism of men like this is more corrosive than the resentment politics of the left. The business lobby remains the prime driver of mass-immigration."

A rare bookseller suspected his books were being bought by AI companies. He stuck an AirTag in a book and we tracked it to a secretive Amazon facility in Las Vegas where they scan and destroy books called VGT3:
Amazon is buying massive quantities of books, scanning them for AI training data, and destroying them in the process.
A 404 Media investigation was able to reveal Amazonโs book buying operation, which hasnโt been previously reported, by placing a tracking device in a rare book we suspected would be acquired by an AI company for training data, and following it around the country to its final destination.
That final destination was an Amazon warehouse in Las Vegas, Nevada. Amazon employees who work at this location say all they do is receive massive shipments of printed books which they then cut the bindings off in order to scan the books more quickly. The printed book is destroyed in the process. The logo of the Amazon team that works at this warehouse, called VGT3, is a dinosaur, brandishing its teeth and with a book in its hands.
โAmazon purchases books through commercial channels to help develop and improve the products and services our customers use,โ an Amazon spokesperson told me in a statement.
The worldโs AI companies are constantly looking for, and spending extreme resources to locate, more material to train their AI models. With books, that sometimes means destroying them in the process, something that large parts of the public have spoken up against, and which we can now confirm Amazon is doing.

Video, slides, and transcript for my recent IEEE Keynote address.
https://aetherczar.substack.com/p/how-electromagnetism-and-quantum
This talk presents the central thesis of the Fields & Energy Project: electromagnetism is not best understood as the action of a single entity, the photon, endowed with the mutually contradictory properties of localized particle and non-localized wave. Instead, electromagnetic phenomena emerge from the interaction of two distinct elements: spatially extended fields that behave as waves, and energy that, in the quantum limit, is transferred in discrete amounts. Fields guide energy.
Through examples drawn from fields and their interactions, antenna theory, and atomic emission and absorption, this talk demonstrates how the fields-and-energy model provides a conceptually coherent and technically productive framework. This perspective clarifies long-standing puzzles associated with radiation reaction and wave-particle duality and connects Maxwellian theory, quantum emission and absorption, and engineering practice within a unified narrative.
The broader aim is to recover conceptual clarity in the foundations of physics, to reestablish continuity between classical and quantum descriptions, and to examine the historical and philosophical developments that shaped modern interpretations. By restoring a disciplined distinction between fields and energy, the talk argues for a simpler and more intelligible account of electromagnetic processes โ one capable of unifying principles across physics and engineering.
