"Jews are a group of people unto themselves. Their Jewishness is visible in their physical appearance, and one notices their Jewish heritage in their intellectual works, and one can sense that there are among them deep connections in their disposition and numerous possibilities of communicating that are based on the same way of thinking and of feeling."

The author of this provocative statement? Einstein, himself. Was Einstein right?"

🐝 What If Queen Bees Aren’t Made by Royal Jelly Alone?

For decades, the textbook story sounded simple: feed an ordinary honeybee larva royal jelly, and it becomes a queen.

A new study in Nature suggests the real story is far more sophisticated.

Researchers found that future queens are not just fed differently β€” they are raised inside specially engineered β€œroyal cribs”: peanut-shaped queen cells built from unusual wax, kept warmer and more humid, and maintained by dedicated young worker bees.

These queen cells are not passive containers. Their wax is physically and chemically distinct from ordinary worker-cell wax: softer, less dense, more flexible, and better at holding heat and moisture. In other words, the nursery itself helps shape development.

The key experiment was simple but powerful. Scientists raised queen-destined larvae with the same royal jelly, but changed the wax environment. Larvae exposed to ordinary worker-cell wax were more likely to die and developed into smaller, weaker queens.

So royal jelly matters β€” but it is not the whole mechanism.

πŸ”Ή Queen development depends on diet + architecture + microclimate
πŸ”Ή Queen-cell wax is chemically and physically different from ordinary comb wax
πŸ”Ή Young β€œqueen cell builders” appear specially adapted to construct and maintain these royal nurseries
πŸ”Ή Extra warmth may help queens mature faster: about 16 days vs about 21 days for workers
πŸ”Ή Similar patterns were found in western and eastern honeybees, suggesting deep evolutionary roots

Important caveat: this study focused on honeybees, not all social insects. And scientists still need to identify exactly which physical or chemical features of the wax are doing the biological work.

Still, the implication is fascinating: development is not shaped by genes and nutrition alone. Built environments β€” even tiny wax chambers β€” can influence what an organism becomes.

If a wax cradle can help decide the fate of a future queen, what other biological outcomes are being shaped by structures we barely notice?

TIL in July 1776, Shawnee/Cherokee warriors kidnapped Daniel Boone’s daughter and her friends. Boone and his party tracked them through the wilderness for 3 days, killing several captors and safely rescuing everyone. The movie Last of the Mohicans was inspired by this event.

Neocons Scurry for Cover

Even Robert Kagan, the King Neocon himself, is not so much walking back his bellicose imperialism as running away from it: In 1997, Kagan co-founded Project for the New American Century, a neoconservative think tank that lobbied for a muscular foreign policy and the maintenance of U.S. global hegemony. The group exercised its considerable influence […]

I noticed this today and found it an odd Google feature. Remember when you could just turn off Bluetooth? Well it now comes with a little thing called we are going to just turn it back on tomorrow. If you don't disable that then it will turn itself back on. I find this curious because these flock and other cameras love when you have Bluetooth enabled. Especially the fake towers they put up to scan your device or even spoof cell tower connectivity. I've never had this "feature" on any phone before until the most recent android update.

They are also going after grapheneOS because it protects your privacy and will even wipe itself clean when a duress pin is entered. How odd.

The full story is almost as difficult to believe as the Professor's CV.

"To their credit, most of the faculty at Cambridge stood hard against this onslaught. They called Cofnas and other critics racists, then continued to call them racists. When that failed to stop the harassment, they called them racists again, but in different ways. They publicly declared that the University of Liverpool had done an investigation and determined that Arday’s work was plagiarism free, and if you didn’t trust them to declare themselves not guilty of a serious, discrediting professional lapse, you were, by all logic, racist."

"Viewed from the inside our mass culture no longer makes sense. It is a litany of contradictions of reality, a cacophony of countersanities.

"From the outside it is completely incoherent. It does not match the world, it refuses to recognise reality, it acts as if reality can be remade in its own image, it is increasingly irrelevant to anyone outside its shrinking sphere of influence.

"This is an economic and political system whose ideological beliefs have translated into the production of incoherence.

"If you want to live an orderly, meaningful and valuable life a coherent view of being and reality is better than its opposite.

"Try to find the most complete view of life, the world, and of human affairs which satisfies this description and test it against the competition."
