TIL - Cold War CORONA spy satellites couldn't transmit data. Instead, they ejected film buckets that reentered Earth via retro-rockets and heat shields. As they deployed parachutes over the Pacific, modified USAF C-119/C-130 planes snagged them mid-air using a trailing hook system.

Ladybug Died in Kiev

Larry Johnson runs the timeline: So Lindsey Graham arrives in Kyiv by 11 am Friday morning. He meets with Zelensky and tours a drone factory. Then we are asked to believe that he returns to Washington, DC after spending less than 24 hours on the ground. Again, I call bullshit!! The earliest train back to [โ€ฆ]

โ—๏ธThe Russian Foreign Ministry is reportedly developing a mechanism that would require Russian citizens to obtain exit visas before traveling abroad, according to Russian media.

If approved, the initiative would replace the current โ€œbuy a ticket and flyโ€ system with a requirement to receive government permission before leaving the country.

According to the reports, travel to so-called โ€œunfriendly countries,โ€ including NATO member states, would only be permitted in organized groups of at least 10 people, accompanied by an escort and following a pre-approved itinerary. The proposal is expected to be presented as a measure to ensure citizensโ€™ safety.

If implemented, the system would effectively revive the Soviet-era practice of requiring separate government authorization to travel abroad.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌโšก๏ธ โ€” Egypt has officially inaugurated The Octagon, its new State Strategic Command Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, a military command complex designed to strengthen national security, crisis management, and military coordination.

Opened by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the 22,000-acre facility is the largest military command center in the world. Its name comes from its eight-sided architectural design, inspired by ancient Egyptian and Islamic architecture, drawing comparisons to the U.S. Pentagon.

The Octagon integrates military operations, strategic planning, sovereign institutions, and national emergency management into a single command center.

Spanning 13 strategic and logistical zones, it features advanced digital infrastructure, including artificial intelligence systems that analyze real-time data to support decision-making and improve responses to cyber threats, security challenges, and national emergencies.

The complex was designed and built entirely by Egyptian companies and experts.

When a capacitor discharges through a resistor, initially the large amount of charge pushes a large amount of current through the resistor. As the capacitor discharges, less and less charge remains. The current decreases further and further, so the change in current is in the opposite direction of the current.

The current points one way, and the change in current points the other way. The induction magnetic fieldsโ€“strongest close to the capacitorโ€“go one way, and the radiation magnetic fieldsโ€“strongest further awayโ€“go in the other direction.

Something truly remarkable happens. On a spherical bubble around the exponentially decaying dipole the magnetic field goes to zeroโ€“exactly the point where the induction and radiation fields are equal and in opposite directions so they cancel out. The radius of the bubble is r = c tau where c is the speed of light and the time constant of the decay is tau = R C, the product of the capacitance and the resistance. Inside the bubble, energy is absorbed and converted to heat in the resistor. Only outside the bubble does energy start flowing away.

I dubbed this bubble a โ€œcausal surface,โ€ since it separates the two causally distinct energy zones.

This GIF scaled to c tau = 1 shows the field lines around the dipole and the emergence of the causal surface bubble.

I describe how to calculate dipole field lines for arbitrary time dependence in my textbook: https://amzn.to/3vozl8C

According to Chubarov, similar conditions are being reported in other steppe areas of occupied Crimea.

โ€œWe sincerely sympathize with all the residents of Crimea who are waiting for the liberation of the peninsula from the Russian occupiers and are being forced to endure new hardships caused by the occupation,โ€ Chubarov wrote.

Take a good look at this map.

According to the figures shown, more than 3,000 new data centers are planned or already under construction around the world. Together, they represent an announced power demand of around 190 gigawatts, consuming up to 1,500 terawatt hours of electricity per year.

To put that into perspective, that is roughly the equivalent of five United Kingdoms worth of electricity consumption.

The same projections estimate water consumption in excess of 15 billion litres per year.

For decades we have been told that humanity must dramatically reduce its energy consumption. We were told that the planet could not sustain economic growth. We were told that we must accept carbon taxes, restrictions, smart meters, energy rationing, expensive green policies and a lower standard of living in order to save the Earth.

We were told that there were limits to growth. The infamous Club of Rome built an entire worldview around the idea that population, industrial output, resource consumption and economic development had to be constrained because the planet simply could not cope.

Yet suddenly, when the objective is building the infrastructure required for artificial intelligence, biometric surveillance, digital identity systems, central bank digital currencies, predictive behavioural modelling and an increasingly automated technocratic society, those limits seem to have vanished.

Apparently there are no limits to growth when the growth serves the construction of the digital grid itself.

Suddenly nobody is asking whether the planet can sustain thousands of power hungry data centers.

Nobody is suggesting AI training should be restricted to reduce carbon emissions.

Nobody is demanding that these projects be halted because of their enormous water consumption.

Nobody is gluing themselves to roads to stop the construction.

In fact, governments are racing to approve them. Utilities are rushing to expand generation capacity, nuclear power is back on the table and coal plants that were supposedly destined for closure are being reconsidered.

It is almost as if energy was never the problem.

It is almost as if carbon emissions were never the real concern.

It is almost as if the climate narrative was primarily about controlling human behaviour, restricting economic activity, redirecting investment flows and transforming entire industries under a centrally managed agenda.

Now that AI has become the next strategic priority, the mask has slipped.

The same institutions that spent years lecturing ordinary people about their carbon footprint are preparing to consume nation sized quantities of electricity to build a planetary scale digital infrastructure.

And they expect nobody to notice the contradiction.

Deeply saddened by the news of the death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. Lindsey was a true defender of freedom and the values that make our world a safer place, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

โ€œHe visited Ukraine 10 times during Russiaโ€™s full-scale invasion and stood with our people when it was needed most. We were in constant contact, and I will miss our conversations. We met twice in the past week alone.

Lindsey actively promoted bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine. In recent weeks, he worked on important initiatives that could help bring peace closer, including strengthening sanctions against Russia. We will always be especially grateful for his words of respect for our people and for the courage of Ukraineโ€™s defenders.

America and the world have lost a determined leader.

We extend our deepest condolences to Lindseyโ€™s family, his loved ones, and everyone who had the honor of working with him.โ€

The Next False Flag

It seems unlikely that Sen. Grahamโ€™s death was natural, although the timeline of his movements tends to suggest Russian involvement rather than Iranian responsibility, the latterโ€™s Lego video notwithstanding. But I canโ€™t imagine that makes other anti-Iranian figures who now find themselves targeted any better. Weโ€™re already heading for a much more dangerous world now [โ€ฆ]
