TIL that the period of the Five Good Emperors during the Roman Empire was not a bloodline. The good emperors were barely related to each other if at all, and they practiced meritocratic heir adoption. This was broken by Marcus Aurelius having an eligible dynastic male heir, Commodus.

โข๏ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐ Lightweight cells powered by nuclear waste could drive tomorrow's drones
DARPA program aims to create a 30-year battery minimally viable prototype by early 2027.
โSolar cells directly convert sunlight into electricityโฆOurs directly convert radiation into electricity,โ said Stafford Sheehan, CEO and founder of Project Omega, which describes their radioisotope power sources as mini-generators that replace traditional batteries.
The power cells could be used in โany application where a battery dying is a pain point,โ Sheehan said. โOne example is on satellites: if you lose power on a satellite, you lose the satellite, it's goneโฆif your batteries die and you don't have any sort of backup power.โ
โAt a high level, we take nuclear waste, we recycle it into two products: one is fuel for reactorsโฆthe other are power isotopes, so isotopes you can use to power things,โ Sheehan said.
Radioisotope power sources have been used in everything from smoke detectors to space systems. But Project Omega hopes to do it on a larger scale.
โThere are over 100,000 metric tons of nuclear waste sitting in the 52 reactor sites around the country; so there's plenty of nuclear waste currently. The federal government gets sued for billions of dollars every year just because they haven't dealt with the nuclear waste,โ Sheehan said. โIt's very valuable to have a battery that lasts.โ
Omegaโs power cells consist of a solid state, or โchunk,โ of isotope that will be layered with the semiconductor to generate power. They also work in extreme temperaturesโsomething that would benefit military operations using unmanned systems in harsh environments.
โWe have been using these radioisotope power systems in space for decades,โ Sheehan said. โWe're just taking the systems that we use for space and we're using a different isotope,โ Strontinum-90, which is less hazardous than the Plutonium-238 isotopes used in similar systems.
โOver the next 18 months, the program will focus on reducing technical risk, testing system performance under realistic conditions, and generating the data needed to inform future development and transition pathways,โ a PNNL official wrote in a statement to Defense One. โKey challenges include improving energy conversion efficiency, validating long-term reliability, managing radiation effects, and ensuring safe, secure handling and deployment.โ

๐ ๐บ๐ธ ๐ณ๐ด 1X unveils the new humanoid hand for NEO
- 25 degrees of freedom: 22 fully actuated in the fingers and palm, plus 3 at the wrist.
- The DoF are distributed anatomically rather than evenly, deliberately biased toward a thumb that genuinely opposes the fingers.
- In-house tendon-driven, quasi-direct-drive running low gear ratios of ~5:1 to 15:1 vs the typical 100:1โ200:1.
- Motors live in the forearm and pull tendons through the wrist. This keeps the hand light and its inertia low while producing high forces.
Sensing
- All 25 DoF are natively force-controlled and fully backdrivable. Every joint doubles as a force sensor.
- Very important, closed-loop proprioception: it always knows its own pose and effort without looking.
- Tactile skin across the fingertips and surfaces measuring contact and shear. This helps with adaptive gripping in real time.
Safety and durability
- IP68 waterproof and food-safe, so it can wash its own hands.
- Compliant by construction: the low gear ratios, tendon drive, and low distal inertia let external impacts safely backdrive the fingers. It yields when hit by a hammer or caught in a drawer.
- Full finger assemblies validated to millions of cycles.
Manufacturing
- Deep vertical integration: in-house motors, custom electronics, and tendon systems.
- Hundreds built already, with capacity to produce 10,000 hands this year.

"Graham, who was first elected to the Senate in 2002, has made name for himself over the years as one of the most prominent warhawks in Washington.
He famously called for the asasination of Russian President Vladimir Putin after the esclatation of the Ukraine coflict in February 2022.
During an appearance on Fox News, the senator cited historic examples of plots to kill famous political leaders, including Julius Caesar and Adolf Hitler. โIs there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military? The only way this โฆ ends, my friend, is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out,โ Graham said, referring to Putin.
During his trip to Kiev the following year, the senator described the US military aid being sent to Ukraine as โthe best money weโve ever spentโ because โthe Russians are dying.โ"

๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ฆ๐ท๐บโผ๏ธ๐จ LINDSEY GRAHAM'S TIMELINE
Last 48 hours:
1) Visits Ukrainian drone factories
2) Russia strikes drone factories
3) Graham โdies suddenlyโ
It could, of course, be a sudden heart attack right after returning home, but it could also be that he was struck in a drone factory by Russia.
Could someone in the administration have sent him there to get rid of him, knowing of the strike?
It seems odd.
Was it an internal US coup, Russian strike, or just a sudden heart attack?

๐บ๐ธโผ๏ธ๐จ GRAHAM PLANNED TO PRESSURE TRUMP
Graham was on his way to pressure Trump into more sanctions, which with the Iran war are now not sustainable.
So if you want to take control of the Senate (again), youโd need him gone. Graham also opposed any concessions and serious peace talks with Russia.
Bluntly said, the Trump administration wanted to get rid of him and the Russians too, of course.
Graham wanted full war with Russia and Iran โฆ while confronting China. Impossible.
If you ask me itโs possible the Trump administration got rid of him on the way back, good time and Russians would be blamed โฆ or the Russians struck the drone factory.
Both are possible. Both parties wanted him gone, as he was the strongest warmonger with actual power in the Senate.
Trump and Putin both saw Graham as obstacle, in different ways sure.

To be clear, I have no clue what happened to him.
But here are some realities:
1) If Russia actually killed him, accidental or intentional doesnโt matter โฆ then the U.S. would NEVER admit it (not instantly). That would create uncontrollable pressure for direct war with Russia. They would try to smooth it over somehow. Most likely pretending he died in a different way.
2) In the high-stakes geopolitical game Lindsey participated in, people can be gotten rid of. Itโs about trillions of dollars and millions of deaths. People are ruthless. And Lindsey flew too close to the sun. He basically was involved in the regime change US foreign policy of 2026 and that went not so well โฆ he wanted to push more and further.
Remember, Trump went through multiple assassination attempts. How many Kennedys died? Everything is possible in world power.
3) Of course it can be just a sudden heart attack. But the timing is wild. Hey, thatโs the randomness of life sometimes.

"When Raymond A. Moody in the 1970โs studied the death experiences of survivors, he identified eleven main themes that were strikingly common in these cases. These eleven themes were for instance: out-of-body experience, a sense of ineffability, strong feeling of calm, going through a tunnel towards light, encountering a powerful and luminous being, meeting the desceased ones and a detailed life review."

"This is why the instructive novel had to be buried. It is not, as Pariseau would have it, a tool for making women โeasier to direct, easier to use, and easier to keep small.โ It is a tool for making women harder to deceive, harder to manipulate by flattery, and harder to keep trapped in the perpetual adolescence that feminism requires. The woman who has learned that her willfulness is not the same as her strength, that her feelings are not the same as the truth, and that genuine maturity involves considering the needs of others alongside her own โ that woman is useless to feminism. She cannot be recruited to the cause, because the cause depends on women who believe that self-discipline is oppression and self-indulgence is liberation."
