TIL that Mount Everest's first measurement came out to a perfect 29,000 feet, so surveyors reported it as 29,002 feet to make sure that the public knew it was a real calculation and not just an estimate.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ World War Two veteran, Alec Penstone, from Shanklin, Isle of Wight, survived D-Day but said it 'wasn't worth it' because of the state of the country has died aged 101.

⭕️ Last year, Mr Penstone shocked the country when he appeared on national television and said the sacrifice made by the lost men of his generation 'wasn't worth' what had become of the country decades later, as he said the UK 'has gone to rack and ruin'.

⭕️ 'What we fought for was our freedom, but now it's a darn sight worse than when I fought for it,' he told presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray on Good Morning Britain.

⭕️ He told viewers: 'My message is, I can see in my mind's eye those rows and rows of white stones and all the hundreds of my friends who gave their lives, for what? The country of today?

❌️ 'No, I'm sorry - but the sacrifice wasn't worth the result of what it is now.'

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβš‘οΈ β€” The Pentagon has designated its press office as a classified area and barred journalists from entering to meet with public affairs staff who traditionally handled media inquiries, WaPo reports.

➑️ The change, which took effect in recent weeks, was partly driven by the relocation of Pentagon speechwriters into the office and plans to equip the space with SIPRNet access for handling classified communications.

➑️ The move means that even if reporters regain broader access to the Pentagon, their direct interaction with Defense Department spokespeople would be significantly more restricted.

I may go down a Wikipedia hole in a moment

The claim is basically true: Sarah Dry, writing about Newton’s surviving papers, says he left roughly 10 million manuscript words, with about half being religious, about 1 million words alchemical, about 1 million Mint-related, and only about 3 million science/math. So the β€œ60% prophecy/alchemy” phrasing is fair as a shorthand, though the religion bucket is broader than prophecy alone, covering theology, chronology, church history, Daniel/Revelation, etc. Still, the big point stands: the private Newton archive is way less β€œapple falls, calculus happens” and way more β€œDaniel, Revelation, alchemy notebooks, monetary crimes, and then some physics.”

The logistics of how these "protests" are planned is fascinating.

"When the curfew orders came down, perhaps assisted by the machine getting a credible threat to their tax-exempt status, the machine shut down in one Signal message. That is the difference between a movement and an operation. A movement doesn’t have an off switch."

This is an excellent overview:
"For over a century we have been ruled into compliance with the liberal system.

"The central technique of this system is the rule by media. It is effective because it uses not only the news and entertainment, but all forms of cultural production to make us believe in this system. That this is the only system we are permitted to believe in, and that it is creating the best of all possible worlds.

"As we can see, this is not the reality it is has created around us.

"The reason we do not know how we got into this dreadful State is because its political technique deliberately excludes anyone or anything which does not represent itself.

"The crisis it has created is now terminal. As this system disintegrates around us, we have the opportunity to replace it.

"In order to do so, we must know what this machine is, how it was made, and why."
