🇺🇦🇱🇻⚔️🇷🇺 On the night between May 7th and May 8th, two Ukrainian drones accidentally struck an oil depot in the Latvian city of Rēzekne, 63 kilometres (39 miles) from the Russian border.

The Russian MoD informed its Latvian counterpart that it detected the entry of at least 7 Ukrainian drones into Latvian airspace that night but Latvia took no action.

Latvian authorities blamed Russia for the fire at the Rēzekne oil depot but the whole story fell apart when Ukrainian foreign minister, Andrey Sybiga, took responsibility for the incident and apologised for the fire, blaming Russian jammers setting the drones off their programmed path.

As a result of this incident, the Latvian defense minister, Andris Sprūds, resigned.

It was speculated for a few months already that Poland and the Baltic States were letting Ukraine use their airspace to target Russian oil terminals and oil refineries in the Leningrad district and the Far North. On March 31st, a Ukrainian drone crashed in an Estonian village the night when Russia's 2nd biggest oil terminal in Ust-Luga, was bombed.

🇺🇸⚔️🇮🇷 US nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine docks in Gibraltar

The US Navy announced that the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Alaska docked in Gibraltar on Sunday, in a rare public disclosure of the location of one of Washington’s nuclear-powered submarines.

The Navy’s Sixth Fleet said the visit was intended to demonstrate US military capabilities, operational flexibility, and its commitment to NATO allies.

The announcement came after President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s response to a proposed ceasefire as “totally unacceptable” and said the truce was on “life support.”

The US military buildup continues as tensions with Iran remain high.
