About 1,700 people in Kansas had their driver's licenses revoked in February as anti-transgender legislation went into effect.

A new law in Kansas made it illegal for trans people to change the gender markers on their driver's licenses. It is among five states that have implemented such rules, though Kansas is the first to add an amendment that retroactively cancels any driver's licenses and invalidates birth certificates that have already been changed. The law, SB 244, also blocks trans people from using their preferred bathroom.
