🎬 Black and White

The Sunset Limited (2011) written by Cormac McCarthy, is about Black (Samuel Jackson) preventing White (Tommy Lee Jones) from commiting suicide in the subway station. He's taken White to his home.

It's filmed entirely in a single room. The two resort to faith-based/existentialist debate regarding the whys and hows of existence, as they try to justify their thoughts/actions.

The subtitle of the movie reads: Nothing is ever black or white.

I might be wrong here but it feels Nietzschean to me, saying that life just 'is'.

Value judgments concerning life, for or against, are foolish and can never be true.

Also from Tao Te Ching:

Heaven and earth are ruthless, and treat the myriad creatures as straw dogs.

The dark atmosphere of the humble house, the sound of the rain, the actings and the camera movement are all appropriate. it makes you laugh, it makes you think, and it makes you sad.
