Der Berggeist is "The Mountain Spirit".
According to Carpenter, Tolkien bought the postcard during his trip to Europe. The envelope containing it was later found with the inscription: "Origin of Gandalf".
However, the picture was painted about 1925-1930 and if I remember correctly the postcard was published 1935 in a folder with three or four other pictures. So the postcard must come by another way into Tolkien's hands.

One thing that was quite apparent to me with the aesthetics of the inauguration was the style of dress among the Trump faction, especially among the women.
It was jarring next to Kamala’s frumpy Hillaryesque pantsuit.
The hats, long coats, capes, gloves and overall style felt very romantic. Definitely a glamourous 1930s New York art deco vibe.
But also very English.
While modern, there was a strong flavor of Old America in how it looked. Interesting to me as I’ve notice the growing popularity of art deco and art nouveau styles.
Above all, it’s a good thing to have beautiful women in elegant fashion standing next to the men in power. Refreshing change from the ghoulish yentas and other shambling unnameabilities that we’re used to.
