β The Elephant's Foot
The Elephant's Foot is the nickname given to a large mass of Corium and other materials formed underneath the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant during the Chernobyl disaster of April 1986.
It was formed when the molten core of the reactor came in contact with the cool water in the basement of the reactor building after burning through at least 2 meters (6.6 ft). This caused the reactor's fuel rods to shatter and release their nuclear fuel, which mixed with the water and concrete of the floor to form the Elephant's Foot.
It is named for its wrinkly appearance, looking like the foot of an elephant. Externally, it resembles tree bark and glass. It is one small part of a much larger mass that lies beneath Reactor No. 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

This is the intuitive perception of Heraclitus; there is no thing of which we may say, "it is." He rejects Being. He knows only Becoming, the flowing. He considers belief in something persistent as error and foolishness.
To this he adds this thought: that which becomes is one thing in eternal transformation, and the law of this eternal transformation, the Logos in all things, is precisely this One--fire.
