Before you open a chart today, understand this.

The market has three phases and most traders only know how to trade one of them.

Trending market — price is making higher highs and higher lows, or lower highs and lower lows. Your job is simple. Find the pullback, wait for confirmation at a key level and trade in the direction of the trend. Don't fight it.

Ranging market — price is stuck between two levels, bouncing back and forth. Most traders get chopped up here because they're looking for a trend that isn't there. Trade the edges of the range or don't trade at all.

Breakout market — price is compressing and building energy before a big move. This is the most dangerous phase. Fake breakouts are common. Wait for the candle to close outside the range and retest before entering. Patience here saves accounts.

Know which phase you're in before you place a single trade. Most losses come from applying the wrong strategy to the wrong market.
