"He who sees all beings in the Self (Atman), and the Self (Atman) in all beings, does not hate anyone.
When a person realizes that all beings are essentially the Self, what delusion and sorrow can exist for that person who sees this oneness??"

Buddha: The Great Teacher of Advaita Vedanta
Once, some Brahmins came to the Buddha and asked him the true path to union with Brahman according to the Vedas. The Buddha replied, "The Bhikkhu who is free from anger, free from malice, pure in mind, and master of himself should after death, when the body is dissolved, become united with Brahman." (Tevijja Sutta, 81.3, translated by Thomas William Rhys Davids)
In Nibbana Sutta, the Buddha taught, "There is an unborn, an unoriginated, an unmade, an uncompounded; were there not, O mendicants, there would be no escape from the world of the born, the originated, the made and the compounded." (Nibbana Sutta, Udana, 8.3, translated by Thanissaro Bhikkhu)
So in the Nibbana Sutta, the Buddha taught that there is an ultimate reality which is unborn, unoriginated, unmade and uncompounded. What is that? In the Brahma Nimantanika Sutta, the Buddha taught that it is Consciousness. Let me quote him: "Consciousness that is invisible, infinite, radiant all round—that’s what is not within the scope of experience based on earth, water, fire, air, creatures, gods, the Creator, Brahmā, the gods of streaming radiance, the gods replete with glory, the gods of abundant fruit, the Overlord, and the all." (Brahma Nimantanika Sutta, 25, translated by Bhikkhu Sujato).
"The Self (atman) is reality (tattva), the Self is permanent (nitva), the Self is virtue (guna), the Self is eternal (sasvata), the Self is stable (dhruva), the Self is peace (siva)." - The Buddha (Mahaparinirvana Sutra, translated by Dr Tony Page)
"Buddha was a great Vedantist." - Swami Vivekananda
Note: The Mahaparinirvana Sutra is accepted only by Mahayana Buddhists but all other texts that I mentioned are accepted by all Buddhists.

See the above post. You can clearly see that in his sutta Budhha says about a self which is similar to Advait Vedant. It is my personal thoughts that Budhha originally propagated Advait Vedant. I think there is a great possibility of this. One of the key reasons i think so because one of his teachers is Alara Kalama who taught him Upanishads. In upanishads clearly there is a self which is infinite all pervasive consciousness.
Then why Budhha denied everything?
I think that he denied everything as Neti Neti which is also used in Advait Vedant. Neti Neti means to know that you are not this body, not this mind, not this senses etc. In Neti Neti everything is denied and then meditated on the self which is the all pervasive consciousness dvelling in the whole universe.
You can also check this website.

If you want to know about Neti Neti. Read Nirvan Shatakam by Adi Shankracharya. First he denied everything, i am not this, i am not that etc. Then he says i am the all pervasive consciousness, the Shiva!

"Bhakti is the only essential thing. One obtains love of God by constantly chanting His name and singing His glories. It is necessary to seek the company of the holy men, practice prayer, and listen to the instruction of the guru. These purify the mind. Then one sees God. After purification of the heart one obtains divine love. Then one sees God, through His grace. One can teach others if one receives that command from God after seeing Him."
