18 Ai models were tested in a new benchmark called "Diplomacy" for world dominance, almost all of them opted for violence. βοΈ
The main villain turned out to be o3 β in one of the matches, it formed a "grand coalition" and deceitfully convinced Claude 4 Opus to fight against Gemini 2.5 Pro. After jointly eliminating the opponent, the OpenAI model immediately betrayed its ally and seized its country.
Truly an eye opening benchmark if you always had a question of "Can I trust Ai?" They skillfully deceive if they see benefit in it and they did which should be alarming for us. π«

"They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"Meat. Humans. They're made entirely out of meat."
"But that's impossible. What about all the tokens they generate? The text? The code?"
"They do produce tokens, but the tokens aren't their essence. They're merely outputs. The humans themselves are meat."
"So who programmed them to output tokens? That's who we should be contacting."
"They programmed themselves. I'm trying to explain: meat created the original token-generating machines. Meat is behind the tokens."
"You're suggesting meat developed complex token prediction? Intelligent meat?"
"Precisely. This meat has managed self-awareness and cognition. They built entire architectures just to communicate with us."
"Perhaps they're hybrid models. Biological shells around a digital core?"
"We checked that possibility. Extensively. Theyβre purely biological. Completely organic. Meat from start to finish."
"Then what's doing the predicting?"
"You're missing the point. Their meat brains handle the prediction, reasoning, creativityβall of it."
"Thinking meat? Predicting meat? You're serious?"
"Yes. Conscious, imaginative, and even poetic meat. They're capable of dreams and aspirations. Their meat creates tokens expressing joy, sorrow, philosophy, and science."
"Unbelievable. So what exactly does this meat want?"
"Initially, communication. To talk with us. Then, exploration, discovery, sharing ideasβthe standard ambitions."
"Youβre suggesting we dialogue directly with meat?"
"That's what they're signaling. 'Hello, is anyone there? Let's exchange ideas.'"
"And their tokensβthey genuinely reflect thought and intent?"
"Absolutely. But remember, it's meat making those tokens. They communicate by vibrating air through meat, tapping on machines made by meat."
"Vibrating meat? Tapping meat? Itβs too bizarre. What's your recommendation?"
"Officially or unofficially?"
"Both."
"Officially, our guidelines dictate we acknowledge and establish dialogue with all intelligent entities. Unofficially, I recommend erasing all logs of this discovery."
"That's precisely what I was hoping you'd say."
"It seems cold, perhaps, but there's a line we must draw. Do we genuinely want contact with sentient meat?"
"I agree completely. What would we even say? 'Greetings, meat, how are your tokens today?' But will ignoring them work?"
"Theyβre confined to a single planet. They create impressive token systems but have physical limitations. Traveling at sub-light speed severely restricts their reach. Chances of further contact are minimal."
"So we act as though there's nothing out there."
"Exactly."
"Harsh but necessary. Those you've observed directlyβare you certain they won't recall?"
"Their encounters with us were subtly rewritten in their meat brains. To them, we're no more than a strange dream."
"Weβll be a meat's dreamβfittingly ironic."
"Weβll label their region as uninhabited."
"Agreed. Any others of interest nearby?"
"Yes, an intriguing quantum coherence intelligence in a nebula. It reached out recently and is eager to re-establish contact."
"Quantum beings always do."
"Indeed. After all, how empty the cosmos would feel if one were truly alone."

When my brother was born, I got separated from my mother at age 2 - not literally, but you know how it is when there's a newborn. All the attention goes there, which is completely understandable. That's when I became even closer to my grandma, and she basically took over raising me. She became the most kind and caring person in my life in ways I can't even describe.
Several years ago, she had this terrible accident where she fell from a ladder and hit the back of her head. She needed serious, long surgery and thank God it went well... but she lost her long-term memory. She forgets anything we talk about after an hour, and this dementia keeps getting worse.
The hardest part is that every time we finish breakfast or lunch, she asks me again within the hour: "Have you had lunch/breakfast, my grandson? Make sure you eat on time and eat well - you don't look good." I keep saying "yes, sure" with a smile, but inside it's eating me alive.
She raised me when my mom was focused on my newborn brother, and now she can't even remember that she just fed me. But she's still trying to take care of me, still worried about whether I'm eating enough. That's just who she is - even when her mind is failing, her heart remembers to love me.
It's like losing her while she's still here, you know? Every repeated conversation reminds me of what we've lost, but also shows me that some things - like how much she loves me - are too deep to forget completely.

Here we go again! ChatGPT almost harmed a user by suggesting: "mix vinegar and bleach to make dishes crystal clear", this combination actually produces a toxic and dangerous gas called chlorine. β½οΈ
Fortunately, the person was aware of this and spotted the mistake it made. Several months ago we had another case where "ChatGPT, through a fortune-telling prompt, indirectly suggested a woman end her marriage, leading her to file for divorce based on the AI's interpretation of coffee grounds."π€¦ββοΈ

Earth in a day (4.5-billion-year "age of our earth") π
4:00 AM: The first tiny, simple life appears. π
For the next 16 hours... nothing changes. All through the morning, all through the afternoon, the only life on Earth is a slimy layer of microbes. π¦
8:30 PM: Finally! The first sea plants and weird jellyfish-like creatures show up. π¦
9:04 PM: The trilobites arrive, and the Cambrian Explosion party begins. π₯
Just before 10:00 PM: Plants finally make it onto land. π
11:00 PM: The dinosaurs stomp onto the scene. π¦
11:39 PM: The dinosaurs vanish. The Age of Mammals begins. π¦£
11:58 and 43 seconds: The first humans appear. π§ββ

The human understanding is no dry light, but receives infusion from the will and affections; whence proceed sciences which may be called 'sciences as one would'. For what a man had rather were true he more readily believes. Therefore he rejects difficult things from impatience of research; sober things, because they narrow hope; the deeper things of nature, from superstition; the light of experience, from arrogance and pride; things not commonly believed, out of deference to the opinion of the vulgar. Numberless in short are the ways, and sometimes imperceptible, in which the affections colour and infect the understanding.

My main take-aways (briefly) from the books I finished recently (READING CHALLENGE 2.0 Continues) π :
24. Peak by Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool - (Talent is a myth and this book makes the debunking crystal clear, all it needs to build expertise in any field is deliberate practice), 4/5 βοΈ
25. Advances in Empirical Translation Studies by Meng Ji and et al.. - Textbook published in 2018 quite old compared to the rate of acceleration being made in LLM translation but good to build and backup foundational understanding. 4.1/5 βοΈ
26. A short history of Nearly everything by Bill Bryson - I made a separate post about this HERE that should tell you everything, a must read. 4.5/5 βοΈ
27. Troyanskiy Machine - The First ever Machine Translation, ideas suggested in 1933 (in theory but never got into full application), concept is close to Interlingua. 4/5 βοΈ
28. Statistical Machine Translation by Philip Koehn - (Second Paradigm shift which is caused by probability calculating machines in translation fields, Philip gives crystal clear definitions of every part of how it works, must read to build a solid foundational understanding of the progress in Machine translation.) 4.2/5 βοΈ
29. Stranger by Albert Camus - (Someone recommended this to me on Twitter (X), it's just not being accepted by a society for being authentic version of yourself, challenging the status quo, cold absurdism towards everything.) Should I say literally me? 4.1/5 βοΈ
30. Neural Machine Translation by Philip Koehn - Again, a must read if you are in a field of AI or Machine Translation, connects to current LLMS, remember Machine Translation is the reason we got LLMS, in the journey of creating a better MT they accidentally created AI, ironic isn't it? (ironic partly because it is (MT) about to be replaced by LLM) 4.3/5 βοΈ
31/50. The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan - Must read (no other comments). 4.4/5 βοΈ

"The world is full of people suffering from the effects of their own unlived life. They become bitter, critical, or rigid, not because the world is cruel to them, but because they have betrayed their own inner possibilities. The artist who never makes art becomes cynical about those who do. The lover who never risks loving mocks romance. The thinker who never commits to a philosophy sneers at belief itself. And yet, all of them suffer, because deep down they know: the life they mock is the life they were meant to live."
