More than 1,000 people have been reported unaccounted for in a devastated North Carolina county where 10 people have already been confirmed dead after Hurricane Helene, officials said Sunday.
Authorities in Buncombe County reported the horrifying toll in an emergency meeting announcing emergency medical shelters and ongoing rescue efforts in areas almost overwhelmed by stormwater.
They also announced a special website to appeal for help finding those unaccounted for โ with โmore than 1,000 reports so far,โ one local official told the live-streamed meeting.

Chimney Rock, NC is one of the many small towns wiped out by Hurricane Helene.
The lack of coverage is a travesty.

I am absolutely gutted. I have no words.
I live in Charlotte, which was hit hard too, but nothing like this.
My heart breaks at watching the entire Western part of my state get wiped off the map and seemingly no one outside of NC gives a shit.
No coverage. No help from the Federal Government.
Nothing.
My heart is heavy tonight, frens. Pray for those suffering the darkest time of their lives right now. ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป

I was just telling someone that Ephesians 6 came to my heart last night and this morning.
So many people going through heartache, health issues, financial issues, emotional times, other life challenges, and society as a whole has gone mad.
Remember to keep your armour on frens, it's a bumpy road ahead, but we've got this... And remember - we're in this together, be sure to lean on one another for support.

While Roy Cooper and Josh Stein sit on their asses sending tweets, Mark Robinson is actually putting boots on the ground.
Remember this on Nov 5, my fellow North Carolinians.

BREAKING: US East Coast Port Strike is set to start on October 1st, and this afternoon the railway stopped taking freight, fearing it might be left on the train.
This is going to create massive problems!

If longshore workers at East and Gulf Coast ports go on strike Tuesday, as now appears likely, it could choke off the supplies of many popular products that flow over those docks. But not necessarily right away.
Businesses have been nervously watching the 12:01 am Tuesday strike deadline approaching with little sign of progress toward a deal to avoid a strike of tens of thousands longshore workers. Many have been doing what they can to prepare for the shutdown โ but there are limits.
It doesnโt make economic โ or logistical โ sense to ship many of the goods that come into East Coast ports by alternative ports of entry โ or by plane.
That means America could see some shortages of chocolate, alcohol, popular fruit, including bananas and cherries, and even certain cars if the strike lasts a long time. That could mean higher prices for the goods that are available.
