one of my favorite movie scenes of all time is from "The Pursuit of Happyness".

during an interview, he says:

i'm the type of person, if you ask me a question and i don't know the answer, i'm gonna tell you that i don't know. but i bet you what: i know how to find the answer, and i will find the answer.

that mindset has stayed with me for years.

every project, every new technology, every challenge reminds me of it.

you don't have to know everything.

you just need the willingness to learn, the discipline to keep looking, and the confidence to figure things out.

i've watched this movie more times than i can count, and it's still one of my favorites.

if you've never seen it, i highly recommend it.

okay this one genuinely surprised me 👀

Z.ai just dropped GLM-5.2 — an open-source coding model sitting right next to Claude Opus 4.8 on benchmarks.

not "close enough" close.

like, 1% close.

and it's MIT licensed. meaning anyone can use it, self-host it, build on it. no region locks, no restrictions.

the API costs $1.40 per million tokens.
Claude Opus? $10.
GPT-5.5? similar story.

you don't need expensive hardware either. just run:

ollama run glm-5.2:cloud

or point Cursor / Cline / any OpenAI-compatible client at the Z.ai API and you're good.

we keep saying the tools are getting better and cheaper.

this is exactly what that looks like in real time.

one thing i’ve learned about ideas:

sometimes we protect our ideas too much because we are afraid someone will take them.

but an idea alone is not the product.

execution, consistency, and understanding the problem are what make it valuable.

the right people don’t always steal your ideas. sometimes they add a new perspective, open opportunities, and make the idea stronger.

also, don’t only collaborate with people who think exactly like you.

different skills, different backgrounds, and different perspectives can create something much bigger than one person can imagine.

recently, i experienced this myself. sharing an idea didn’t take anything away from it. it actually helped it move forward.

don’t bury your ideas because of fear.

build.
test.
collaborate.

because sometimes the next level of your idea is hidden inside a conversation.

it’s been a while since i had a conversation with one of my biggest role models, and i got a reminder that really stayed with me.

"people are the bedrock of everything meaningful we build."

technology, products, and companies are built by people, and the way we communicate, support each other, and lead with empathy matters.

also, mistakes and failures are not something to hide from.

they are the building blocks of our character.

every experience teaches us something.

the skills we build matter, but the person we become matters even more.

Meta dropped Brain2Qwerty today.

It turns raw brain signals into real-time sentences. You’ll need a MEG helmet but this was only possible with surgery before.

v2 hits ~61% word accuracy on average, up to 78% for the best person, decoding full thoughts into text (TTT 😄)

They open-sourced the code too. Wild how fast this is moving.

It feels like going from:

The funny thing is, the tool is not the whole story.

The real advantage comes from the workflow you build, the way you think, and how you use the tools.

some memories in tech never leave you.

for me, one of those memories is the day i started microcontroller programming with the mbed lpc11u24.

back then, i had almost no idea what i was doing.
even blinking the first led took us the whole day.

it was slow, old, and much harder than the modern tools we have now, but that is exactly why i remember it so clearly.

that was the moment i started learning how hardware, code, and patience come together.

when i saw the mbed email recently, it brought back that beautiful memory again.

sometimes the hardest beginnings become the memories that stay with us the longest.
