小贴士：Pixelfed 可以用 Mastodon 官方应用登陆

虽然 Pixelfed 已经兼容 mastoAPI 理论上应该支持所有 fedi 应用，但是有一个 bug 一直未修复，就是不能显示远程实例的图片。

这个bug在每个客户端上表现不同，Mastodon 官方应用上表现为之显示文字，点进去也没有图片；Toot！上体现为，无法显示缩略图，但是点击图片能够查看；其它客户端都在这两种情况之内，具体原因需要看 API 以及每个客户端的实现了，有精力的朋友可以去提 issues

这是一篇关于 Mastodon 入门的文章，非常客观地还原了刚接触 Fediverse 的用户的心理。
但是有一点值得注意：文章里提到很多不足其实是 Mastodon 的前端造成的，但是现在 Fediverse 程序多有前后端分离的趋势，例如 Pleroma 和 GotoSocial 。很多问题其实并不由后端而是由前端造成的，比如文章中提到的需要拷贝用户名去搜索账户这点。
所以 Mastodon 存在的问题并不一定就是 Fediverse 所存在的问题。

目前最流行的 Fediverse 程序大多是微博客（Micro-blog）这种。既然有微博客，与之相对，就会有博客。

目前 Fedi 用户有不少在敦促公众建立自己的博客，作为一个博客作者当然乐见于此。但是，建立博客，哪怕是最低限度的静态博客，对于不少人来说，可能有着或这或那的门槛，例如经济情况、技术认知以及文字输出能力。即便一时兴起搭建起博客，也未必能维持正常营运，更遑论保持文字输出。这一点随便看看博客友情链接页里坏链数量便可知一二。

这不由得让人觉得：免费（自由意义上的）互联网是否仅适用于富裕且受过良好教育的中产阶级？

Unrelated to the fediverse but still, hear me rant.
I see a lot of people these days (most of them on the fedi) urging the grand public to set up their own blog, while the majority of people, who are in a less financially comfortable position, can only afford to exist online as guests or tenants on other people’s sites.
These people make me wonder: Is the free (in the freedom sense) internet only intended for the well-off and well educated middle class and the bourgeoisie wannabes?
Some certainly behave in a way as if it is.

从此版本开始，将陆续支持 Mastodon 4.0 之后添加的新特性。
