“Notorious paedophile cricket coach Ian Harold King has been handed a 23-year sentence for the sexual abuse of three teenagers in the ACT in the late 90s and early 2000s.

The 80-year-old former Queensland Sheffield Shield cricketer is already serving a lengthy term of imprisonment for the abuse of 11 other boys.

Today, Justice Baker said King had "preyed on the victims' interest in cricket".

"The offending consisted of a grave breach of the trust between the offender and the victims and their families," Justice Baker said.

"There can be no doubt the offending has resulted in lifelong damage to each of these men."

Justice Baker said King had himself been abused while growing up in Queensland and "cognitive distortion" meant he believed his victims would "enjoy the offending because he did as a teenager”.”

In this article, it made reference to King’s past as a victim of paedophilia and in Aboriginal communities it is a rampant generational cycle.

NT police have arrested two more Abos over an attack on the Todd Tavern in the Alice Springs CBD this week, and a third Abo who allegedly assaulted police during the riot.
