🔵ENZYMES

🔴Enzymes are biological catalysts, which accelerate the rate of a chemical reaction without being consumed in the reaction, or af ect the end product.

🔴they are responsible for supporting almost all of the the chemical reactions that
maintain animal homeostasis.

🔵
#Catalysts :- are molecules that speed up a chemical reactions by reducing the amount of activation energy required to get the reaction going.
🔵 The process by which catalysts lower the activation energy is called
#catalysis

🔴 Catalysts themselves do not change in a way during the reaction and are available for re-use after the reaction.

🔵In cells the catalysts are enzymes. Enzymes are proteins within a very complex structure having a region called
#active site. The part of he enzyme molecule that binds with its substrate. The shape of the active site allow :-

🔵 The binding with a particular substrate

🔵 The binding result the reaction to take place with less energy

🔴 Enzymes are formed inside cells. the site of enzyme action may be outside the cell ( extracellular enzymes ) or within the cell ( intracellular enzymes ).

🔵
#Activation energy:- the amount of energy required to rise all the molecules in one mole of a substance to a transition state at which it is ready to cleave or form a product. The presence of enzyme lowers the required activation energy.

Radioactivity 🧿

The process of emission of particles from nuclei because of the nuclear instability; is known as radioactivity.
The substance that releases such energy/rays is known as radioactive substance.
The invisible rays released from such radioactive substance are known as radioactive rays.
Likewise, radioactivity is a nuclear phenomenon that happens (naturally) because of the nuclear instability of atoms.
In 1896 Henri Becquerel first observed the phenomena of radioactivity, but the term ‘radioactivity’ was coined by Marie Curie.
Marie Curie discovered the radioactive elements namely Polonium and Radium in 1898.
For her discovery, Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize.

Radioactive Rays
After long years of experiment, Ernest Rutherford along with his colleague (Hans Geiger and his student Ernest Marsden), discovered alpha rays, beta rays, and gamma rays.
These rays emitted as the result of the disintegration of atoms.

Alpha (α) Particles
Alpha particles are usually composed of two protons and two neutrons, which are tightly bound together.
Alpha particles are being released during radioactive decay (or alpha decay) from the nucleus radio nuclides.
The alpha particles are identical to the nucleus of either normal helium atom or doubly ionized helium atom.
In comparison to other particles (i.e. Gamma and Beta), alpha particles are heavy and slow. Therefore, alpha particles have very small range in the air.
Because of slow speed, Alpha particles have very weak penetrating powers; these particles are even stopped by a thin paper sheet (see image given above).
Because of having the double positive charge, alpha particles are highly ionizing.

Beta (β) Particles
Beta particles are the fast moving electrons emitted by some radio nuclides during the radioactive decay (also known as beta decay).
Beta particles are of much lighter weight and carry a single negative charge.
Beta particles are rarely ionizing than the alpha particles.
Because of having lighter weight, beta particles can travel much farther than alpha particles; however, beta particles can be stopped by several sheet of papers or one sheet of aluminum.
Beta particles are negatively charged and get attracted towards positively charged particles.

Gamma (ү) Particles
Gamma particles are the bundle of high energy namely electromagnetic energy (photon) emitted by the radioactive elements during the radioactive decay.
Among all three particles (alpha, beta, and gamma), gamma particles are the most energetic photons.
Gamma particles, which are the form of electromagnetic radiation(EMR), originate from the nucleus.
The wavelengths of gamma are the shortest among all three.
Gamma particles have no charge and they are neutral; therefore, they are unaffected by magnetic and electric fields.

Uses of Radioactive Elements
Medical field (treatment of many diseases)
Industrial process
Energy production – Nuclear reactors

🧩Dalton’s Atomic Theory:
Every matter consists of indivisible atoms.
Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed.
Atoms of a given element are identical in  properties
Atoms of different elements differ in properties.
Atoms of different elements combine in a fixed ratio to form molecule of a compound.

🧩Precision and Accuracy:
Precision: Closeness of outcomes of different measurements taken for the same quantity.
Accuracy: Agreement  of experimental value to the true value

🧩Laws of Chemical Combination:
Law of conservation of mass:
“For any chemical change total mass of active reactants are always equal to the mass of the product  formed”

Law of constant proportions:
“A chemical compound always contains same elements in definite proportion by mass and it does not  depend on the source of compound”.

Law of multiple proportions:
“When two elements combine to form two or more than two different compounds then the different masses  of one element B which combine with fixed mass of the other element bear a simple ratio to one another”

Law of reciprocal proportion:
“ If two elements B and C react with the same mass of a third element (A), the ratio in which they do so will    be the same or simple multiple if B and C reacts with each other”.

Gay Lussac’s law of combining volumes:
“At given temperature and pressure the volumes of all gaseous reactants and products bear a    simple whole number ratio to each other

Which one of the following statements is correct?

A. An object moving toward the east cannot have an acceleration toward the west.

B. If the average velocity of an object is zero in some time interval, the average speed of the object for that time interval is also zero.

C. The velocity-time graph of an object moving with constant acceleration is parallel to the time axis.

D. An object having zero velocity can have acceleration different from zero.

Ans- D
🤔👇
Explanation: Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity of an object. An object can have zero velocity and still have a non-zero acceleration if its velocity is changing. For example, if an object is thrown upwards, it will have zero velocity at the highest point of its trajectory, but it will still have a non-zero acceleration due to gravity acting on it. Therefore, statement D is correct.

Option A is incorrect because an object moving toward the east can have an acceleration toward the west if a force is acting on it in that direction.

Option B is incorrect because the average speed of an object can be non-zero even if its average velocity is zero. This can happen if the object moves back and forth between two points, covering equal distances in opposite directions.

Option C is incorrect because the velocity-time graph of an object moving with constant acceleration is a straight line, not parallel to the time axis.

🚀 Let's dive in to KINEMATICS

So, kinematics is just a branch of mechanics which deals with the motion of objects without considering the cause of the motion.

In kinematics we different parameters that are used to describe the motion of objects

1. Displacement is the shortest followed by a body, and it's a vector quantity

2. velocity is defined the displacement per unit time

3.Acceleration is the rate Change of velocity per unit time

School library, [8/19/2012 22:25]
✍️ Depending on the acceleration, rectilinear motion can be classified as : uniform motion, uniformly accelerated motion, and accelerating motion.

👉1. Uniform motion: it's a motion in which a moving body has constant( uniform) velocity. i.e (Vi = Vf)

Note: Acceleration in one dimensional motion is zero (0) for a uniform motion. ✍️
( Acceleration = 0 )

👉2. Uniformly accelerated motion: acceleration is constant, but not zero.
( Acceleration is Constant)

One example of UAM is free fall. 🤝

👉3. Accelerating motion: it's a type of motion in which acceleration of moving OBJECT varies with time and position.
( Acceleration = changes )

Keep that in mind ☝️👊
Keep this in mind 👇

🎯 SUVAT equations are as follows:

1, S = 1/2 ( u + v)t
2, S = ut + 1/2at^2
3, v = u + at
4, v^2 = u^2 + 2as
