Response to those who say "Aqeedah is not important".
[Q]:There are some people here, who keep away from [attending] lessons on ‘aqeedah (creed/beliefs), and they say: ‘We are Muslims, we are not unbelievers or id*l-worshippers such that we have to learn ‘aqeedah or attend lectures about it’ So, O noble Shaykh, what is your view regarding this!
[A]: Shaykh Fawzān حفظه الله.
"Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan, one of the distinguished Companions رضي الله عنه said:“People used to ask the Messenger about the good, but I used to ask him about the evil, for fear of falling into it (Sahih al-Bukhari 3606).
Teaching the Muslims [the correct] ‘aqeedah does not mean that we have judged them to be unbelievers. Rather, we teach the Muslims about ‘aqeedah in order for them to know about it thoroughly, and know what matters nullify it and what matters are contrary to it.
A person who does not have sound knowledge, may fall into dangers without even realising it; just like a person who walks down a path, but is ignorant of the fact that along this path there is a ditch, or a hole, or even an ambush. Yet [due to his ignorance] he ends up falling into the hole, or the ambush, without even realising it.Thus it is essential to learn about tawheed, since it is tawheed that is the basic foundation [of both the Religion and the correct Islaamic ‘aqeedah].
Indeed, no one abstains from learning about tawheed except one of two people: [i] an ignorant person, [ii] a bigoted deviant."

Question: A young man came to me asking for my sister's hand in marriage. I inquired about him and discovered that he does not perform the prayer in congregation. Therefore, we differed about whether or not we should allow this marriage to take place. My brother said, "Marry him for perhaps Allah will guide him." However, my father refused. I want to know the Islamic ruling concerning this matter.
Response by Shaykh Ibn Bāz رحمـــه الله:
"If someone is known not to pray in congregation, then he should not be wedded to. This is because not praying in congregation is an open, public display of disobedience to Allah. This is one of the characteristics of the people of hypocrisy and it is one of the steps that leads to abandoning the prayer in totality."

What is Salafiyyah?
Sh. Sālih al Fawzān حفظه الله was asked, "What is Salafiyyah? What is the ruling on ascribing to it?.”
A) Salafiyyah is the original affair. The madhab of the Salaf as-Sâlih– the Muhâjirûn and the Ansâr and those who followed them exactly (in Faith). (At-Tawbah 9:100).
It is the original affair and whoever opposes it and exits from it is misguided.
This ummah will split into 73 sects, all of them in the hell fire except for one; they (i.e. the companions) asked, “Who is it?” He said, “The one upon what I and my companions are upon today.”
This is Salafiyyah; what the prophet ﷺ and His companions were upon, and the Imams who came after them.
This is Salafiyyah and it is the original affair. It is not what they say – a sect from the sects. No! It is the original affair and the sects are the ones that have split from it. Yes.”

Devil's Techniques in deceiving the Majority of Laypeople
Ibn Al Jawzī رحمه الله said:
"He convinced them to follow practised customs, which is the major reason for their falling into error.
For example, they imitate their parents in following customs without question. Some of them become fifty years old practicing what his father used to do without thinking if this custom was good or bad.
Some people spend years praying in a manner similar to what he sees others praying; while he does not recite al-Fatihah properly and is not aware of the al-wājibāt (obligations of Salah). They do not attempt to learn how to pray properly, yet, if one of them plans to travel he would ask others about the details of travel."

Rather the concession allowing women to use the daff is for them only. With regard to men, it is not permissible for them to do any of that, whether on weddings or on other occasions.

Because singing, beating the daff and clapping the hands are actions of women, the salaf used to call a man who did that mukhannath (effeminate), and they used to call male singers makhaaneeth (pl. of mukhannath). This is well known.

Fatwa no. 4027
Q: What should I do when I ride a car where Haram (prohibited) songs are played?
Likewise, what should I do when I visit relatives or friends at their homes where such songs are played?
A: It is Wajib (obligatory) on you to advise the owner or driver of such a car to listen to things other than such Haram songs for hopefully they may respond to you and give up that sin. Otherwise, you have to leave the car, abandon such van, and protect yourself against hearing Munkar (that which is unacceptable or disapproved of by Islamic law and Muslims of sound intellect). However, if for any reason it is difficult for you to get out of the car; you will not be to blame for remaining in it.
Regarding your relatives and friends at their homes where such songs are played, you have to advise them to give this up as well. If they respond to your advice, all praise be to Allah Alone. Otherwise, you will have to forsake them to keep away from Munkar and its perpetrators.
May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions!

Reading and viewing destructive, un-lslamic material in books and magazines, on TV and the Internet .
Shaykh Al Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:
"These types of materials make people sceptical about their religion and faith and drag them from excellent morality to the abyss of degeneration. This naturally leads to unbelief and depravity if the young people do not have strong resistance in terms of the sound Islamic education, mental acuteness, and sagacity that can enable them to differentiate between truth and falsehood and between what is useful and what is harmful.
Being exposed to these kinds of ideas also turns young people upside down because it meets fertile ground in their minds for thinking without any hindrance; its roots strengthen and its stem solidifies. This is then reflected in their logic and their lives.
The solution to this problem is to immediately shift to writings and programs that inculcate the love of Allah and His Prophet (ﷺ) in one's heart and those books that help in actualizing faith and virtuous deeds."

Rulings on Nasheeds & Vocals Effects in it.
Discussed:
1) "Islamic Nasheed" is Bid'ah
2) Only voice with no effects is permissible.
3) Rhythmic Humming/ Vocals Beats/ Musical Resemblance is Harām even with just Vocals only.
4) Duff is also Harām in this case.
5) Singing in Unison & The Excuse of Arabic Poems.
• Shaykh al Uthaymeen رحمـــه الله:
‘Islamic Nasheed’ is an innovation. It resembles what the Sufis innovated in the Deen (of mystic chants). And when beating of the duff is accompanied with it, it becomes more reprehensible.
Al-Ajwibah Al-Mufeedah as quoted by the author of Waqafaat Ma’a Tandheem Al-Ikhwaani al-Muslimeen p.139.
• Shaykh al Uthaymeen رحمـــه الله:
I think that Islamic nasheeds have changed from what they were before. They were done with voices that were not enchanting. But if a man comes to us and sings anaasheed that have a sound meaning, and which do not include any nonsense, and uses his voice only with no musical instruments, there is nothing wrong with that. Hassaan ibn Thaabit used to recite poetry in the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ .
Duroos wa Fataawa al-Haram al-Madani, 1416 AH, question no. 18.
• Shaykh Sulymān Ar-Ruhaylī حفظـــه الله:
If it is in a way that resembles music, then it's harām.
Nowadays, we hear what's known as 'Islamic Nasheeeds'. There's no difference between this and music in the effects with it. They add effects to it by computer which resembles music.
As for my words 'that which resembles music', then if it contains chanting/singing like the chanting/singing of music then it is a composition just like a musical composition. They are both Harām.

• Shaykh al Albāni رحمـــه الله;
There may be another sin involved in that [i.e., nasheeds], which is that they may be performed in the manner of immoral songs and performed according to the rules of eastern or western music which makes the listeners enjoy it and makes them dance and behave in a foolish manner. So the aim becomes the tune and the enjoyment thereof, and not nasheed per se.
Tahreem Alaat al-Tarb (p. 181).u
• Shaykh al Uthaymeen رحمـــه الله:
If they are accompanied by the duff or performers are chosen who have beautiful and enchanting voices, or they are performed in the manner of indecent songs, then it is not permissible to listen to them.
Al-Sahwah al-Islamiyyah (p. 185).
• Shaykh al Albāni رحمـــه الله:
If these anaasheed contain Islamic meanings and are not accompanied by any instruments such as the daff, tablah drum and so on, then there is nothing wrong with them.
Majallat al-Asaalah (issue no. 2, 15 Jumaada al-Aakhirah 1413 AH).

5) Singing in Unison & the Excuse of extrapolation.
• Shaykh al Fawzān حفظـــه الله:
Some people have justified listening to these Nasheeds by saying poems used to be chanted in the presence of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) and he would listen to them.
The answer to that is that the poems that were chanted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) were not chanted in congregation as music is sung, and they were not called ‘Islamic Nasheeds’ rather they were known as Arab poems that contained words of wisdom, anecdotes and descriptions of bravery and generosity. The Companions used to chant them singularly due to what they contained of those meanings (earlier mentioned), and they used to chant some of the poems when they engaged in hard activities such as building (mosques, trenches, etc.) and when travelling in the night.
