Tense

(Structure)
እነዚህን ቅርጾች ለመጠቀም የምንከተለው ቀመር፦
> Subject (ባለቤት/ፈፃሚ) + Verb (የድርጊት ቃል) + Object (ተሳቢ/የተጸፀመበት)
> ለምሳሌ፦ I (Subject) + am eating (Verb) + lunch (Object).
እዚህ ጋር "am eating" የሚለው ግስ ራሱ ነው "ቴንሱን" (ጊዜውን) እየነገረን ያለው።

Weekly Quiz - Week 1: Word Problem
Problem: Tom has 15 boxes of pens to pack for a school supply drive. Each box holds 12 pens. If Tom packs 5 boxes per hour, how many hours will it take him to pack all the boxes?
Step 1: Let's calculate the total number of pens Tom has to pack. 📦
15 boxes × 12 pens/box = 180 pens
Step 2: Now, let's calculate how many hours it will take Tom to pack all the boxes. 🕒
Since Tom packs 5 boxes per hour, we need to divide the total number of boxes (15) by 5.
15 boxes ÷ 5 boxes/hour = 3 hours
Answer: It will take Tom 3 hours to pack all the boxes. 📆

Regular Plural Nouns
📚 Plural nouns are words that describe more than one person, place, or thing. In English, there are two types of plural nouns: regular plural nouns and irregular plural nouns.
Regular Plural Nouns
Regular plural nouns follow a specific pattern to form their plural forms. The pattern is to add -s or -es to the singular noun. Here are the rules:
📝 Adding -s
Most singular nouns add -s to form their plural form, e.g.
+ Singular: cat → Plural: cats
+ Singular: bus → Plural: buses
If the singular noun ends in -s, -x, -z, -sh, -ch, or -o, add -es, e.g.
+ Singular: box → Plural: boxes
+ Singular: watch → Plural: watches
✅ Adding -es
If the singular noun ends in -y, replace the -y with -ies, e.g.
+ Singular: baby → Plural: babies
If the singular noun ends in -o, add -es, e.g.
+ Singular: photo → Plural: photos

Topic: Plural nouns - irregular forms
Irregular Plural Nouns
Irregular plural nouns are words that do not follow the usual -s or -es pattern to form their plural form. Instead, they have unique spellings that must be memorized.
Examples:
1. Child becomes Children, not Childs.
2. Tooth becomes Teeth, not Tooths.
In each of these examples, the plural form of the noun is not simply adding -s or -es to the end of the word. Instead, the word changes entirely to its plural form.
Key Takeaway: Irregular plural nouns have unique spellings that must be memorized. To master these nouns, it's essential to practice and review their plural forms frequently.
✅ Practice forming the plural forms of irregular nouns to improve your grammar skills.

⚠️ Common English Mistakes
Topic: Colors as adjectives
**Using Colors as Adjectives**
Colors can be used as adjectives to describe people, objects, and places. Let's explore the correct way to use colors as adjectives and the common mistakes to avoid.
**Incorrect vs Correct Way**
Incorrect: "The red house is very beautiful." 🏠
Correct: "The red house is a beautiful house." 🏠✅
Why the mistake? In the incorrect sentence, "red" is used as a noun, which means a specific type of house. In the correct sentence, "red" is used as an adjective to describe the color of the house.
**Why Does it Happen?**
This mistake often occurs because people are not aware of the difference between using colors as adjectives and using them as nouns. Colors can be nouns when they refer to a specific type or shade of the color, but as adjectives, they describe the color of an object or person.
**Example Sentences**
* The blue sky was beautiful today. ☀️
* She has a yellow shirt on. 👕
* The green grass was soft under her feet. 🌿
In each of these sentences, the color is used as an adjective to describe the noun (sky, shirt, grass).
**Practice Time!**
Try rewriting the following sentences using colors as adjectives:
* The yellow car is a ______ car. (Answer: The yellow car is a beautiful car.)
* The green tree is a ______ tree. (Answer: The green tree is a healthy tree.)
Remember, using colors as adjectives is all about describing the color of an object or person. Practice makes perfect! 📝

📐 Math Concept
Topic: Counting by tens - 10, 20, 30, 40
Counting by Tens: A Logical Approach
To understand counting by tens, we need to establish a foundation in multiplication and division. Multiplication is the process of adding a number a certain number of times, whereas division is the process of sharing a quantity into equal parts. In this context, we will focus on the relationship between 10 and its multiples.
📐 Multiples of 10
The number 10 is a special number because it can be multiplied by any number to produce a multiple of 10. For example:
10 × 1 = 10
10 × 2 = 20
10 × 3 = 30
10 × 4 = 40
This pattern continues indefinitely, and we can see that each multiple of 10 is 10 times a counting number. This relationship is essential for counting by tens.
🔢 Counting by Tens
To count by tens, we can use the multiplication table to find the next multiple of 10. For instance, if we want to count from 10 to 50, we can multiply 10 by 5:
10 × 5 = 50
This means that we have 5 sets of 10, and our final answer is 50.
📏 Division Connection
Notice that we can also divide multiples of 10 by 10 to get back to the counting number:
50 ÷ 10 = 5
This shows that the counting number (5) is the quotient when we divide a multiple of 10 by 10.
In conclusion, counting by tens is based on the understanding of multiplication and division. We can use the multiplication table to find the next multiple of 10 and use division to find the counting number.
