The Women's Forum in #Raqqa started today with a minute of silence for all women who had become victims of genocide & murder

➡️ The Forum aims to connect women struggles in #Rojava/NE-#Syria, #Shengal & #Afghanistan

➡️ #YPJ members are sharing their experience on Self-Defense

#YPJ commander Zinarîn Qamişlo in her opening speech:

📢 "We dedicate this Women's Forum to all the women who were murdered by the hegemonic male system"

Since 1999, Abdullah Öcalan is being held on the prison island of Imrali in solitary confinement

➡️ For 4 years he is facing an absolute communication-ban - the last meeting with his lawyer was on 7.8.2019

➡️ Since then, all requests for lawyer-client meetings have been denied

📃 The Asrın Law Office, which represents Abdullah Öcalan, issued a statement:

📢 “Our fundamental priority is to obtain direct & reliable information about Mr Öcalan (...). We call on the authorities to put an end to this absolute communication ban and crime of torture."

The Forum ended with a final declaration presenting 11 points on how to address #genocide & #femicide

➡️ The Forum stated that women should raise their struggle & level of organization, and establish a strong unity between Kurdish, Arab, Yazidi & other women of the region

#SDF forces conducted an operation against Turkish-backed merceneries

➡️ The operation was carried out as an response to the ongoing Turkish attacks on NE-#Syria & the assassination of 4 #YPG fighters in Qamishlo on August 3

➡️ Six Turkish-backed mercenaries have been killed

➡️ Yesterday, Turkey & its allied Islamists were shelling the villlage of El Shirke (Ayn Issa)

➡️ In the attack 3 members of the same family were killed: 2 children aged 3 & 10 & their 60 year old grandmother; 3 others were injured

⚡ Today, #Turkey fired howitzers at the village of Um El Kef, western Til Temir district

➡️ As a result of the civilian Deham Ehmed Mihemed (26) was injured

➡️ Since yesterday, the Turkish state & its allied Islamists increased their attacks on Til Temir, Zirgan & Ayn Issa

➡️ In the last days, the Guerilla - led by the women of the YJA-Star - carried out actions, killing 2 Turkish soldiers in the #Zap region

➡️ On August 4, 2 Turkish occupiers were killed in Xakurke & one of their positions was destroyed

3 civilians killed by #Turkey in Southern #Kurdistan

➡️ Yesterday, a Turkish airstrike on a vehicle in Penciwin, Suleymaniya killed 3 civilians

➡️ On July 9, a Turkish airstrike on a civilian car had already killed one civilian & injured another

⚡ In the first 6 months of 2023, #Turkey has carried out more than 665 air- & drone strikes in #Syria and #Iraq

➡️ These attacks have illegally assassinate & injured numerous civilians, Kurdish politicians & those who were fighting #ISIS

In some provinces of #Afghanistan the #Taliban banned girls over the age of 10 from attending primary school

➡️ As #YPJ we stand alongside the Afghan women & support their struggle for freedom & secularism
