Closure of the #Semalka border crossing complicates the humanitarian situation

➡️On May 11 #KDP closed the border crossing between North & East #Syria & #KRG

➡️ This border is the only way to get into #AANES, get out, & bring humanitarian aid supplies into the region


Autonomous Administration of North & East #Syria:

➡️ There have been pregnancies with fathers being teenage boys

➡️ Boys over the age of 12 are taken out of the camps to protect them from indoctrination, sexual abuse & violence

📢 “Some of the children did not commit any crimes, but many were trained militarily & many were sexually abused.”

➡️ The Children’s Law No.7 (2022) of the #AANES mandates that children be protected from dangerous environment

➡️ Children who suffer abuse or severe neglect may be taken from their parents – as is the situation in most countries with systems in place to protect children
