Nurcan Başak, known by the nom de guerre Koçerîn Lavînya, was born in 1986 in Siirt (Sêrt) into a patriotic Kurdish family known for its commitment to the Kurdish freedom struggle. Her father was killed in 1992 after being targeted for his opposition to the oppressive system, an event that deeply influenced her life and convictions. In 2007, Koçerîn actively joined the struggle for her people's freedom. Following the development of the Rojava Revolution, she went to Rojava and joined the ranks of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) in 2015. Through her determination, discipline, and commitment to the ideals of freedom and women's liberation, she quickly became a respected fighter and commander. Inspired by Abdullah Öcalan's philosophy, she was known for her strong morale, dedication, and leadership. She took part in frontline battles against armed groups and became a symbol of resistance and sacrifice.
On January 16, 2026, our comrade Koçerîn Lavînya carried out a self-sacrificial action with a hand grenade to avoid falling in the hands of the enemy.
Mihrîban Şorli, known by the nom de guerre Kînda Brûsk, grew up in Muş (Mûş), a region with a strong tradition of resistance and cultural identity. From an early age, she became aware of the assimilation and repression policies directed against her people and chose to dedicate her life to resisting this system. For Kînda, this decision was not only a physical struggle but also a profound ideological and philosophical transformation.
She was recognized for her strong ideological commitment, viewing revolutionary struggle as the creation of a new way of life under all circumstances. Dedicated to the Kurdish freedom movement, she consistently defended the ideals of freedom and opposed policies aimed at erasing Kurdish identity. Known for her hard work, integrity, and kindness, she treated every revolutionary task as a sacred responsibility and faced hardships with determination and an optimistic spirit.
Our comrade Kînda Brûsk fought courageously in a difficult battle against armed groups in Deir Hafir (Dêrhafir) on January 17, 2026, and was killed in the fighting.
We bow our heads in front of their struggle!
Martyrs never die!
