If YPJ is integrated into the new Syrian army, it would lead to significant changes
Under the agreement of 29 January, Rojava’s civilian structures and military forces are to be integrated into the Syrian state. So far, the YPJ has not been part of this integration. YPJ spokesperson Ruksen Mohammed discusses what this means and the dangers it poses. She also highlights the obstacles standing in the way of a successful agreement, emphasises global solidarity and makes it clear that no positive outcome can be achieved without the participation of YPJ or women in general.

The female fighters of the YPJ are a symbol of self-sacrifice and tireless struggle.

Hêzil Tolhildan from Aleppo felt martyr on January 19, 2026, in Deir ez-Zor. She resisted courageously until her last breath during an attack by occupying mercenaries.
Cûdî Rohilat from Aleppo was ambushed by mercenary forces on December 18, 2025. She fought with courage and wisdom until her final breath, joining the immortal.

Every voice is a voice of freedom and equality
A few days ago, we received messages of solidarity from Germany, which make clear that Rojava and the women’s revolution serve as an example for other parts of the world, and that the achievements of the women’s revolution – particularly those of the YPJ – must be defended.

On the occasion of Akitu
As the new spring arrives and nature comes back to life, we, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to our Syriac, Assyrian and Chaldean peoples, and to all women, on the occasion of Akitu.
Akitu is not merely the start of a new year; it is a symbol of resistance and a deep-rooted presence in Mesopotamia. We believe that a democratic life is secured through the will of free women and the alliance of peoples.
May this festival be a means of bringing peace and victory to all the peoples of the region. In the spirit of “Woman, Life, Freedom” (Jin, Jiyan, Azadî), we wish you a happy New Akitu Year!

We bow over head in respect of our comrade Nudem Ararat
The history of our freedom is written through the efforts and the blood of our bravest comrades. Today, we once again bow in respect to the victory and sacrifice of Nudem Ararat who emerged from the stronghold of resistance, Kobani, and became a star of freedom in the skies of Deir ez-Zor.
Born in Kobane, comrade Nudem stood as a steadfast shield against all attacks in Deir ez-Zor. With unparalleled sacrifice, she defended the values of humanity until her last breath and felt martyr on 19 January 2026 as a result of her great resistance.
