Family is the ones genuinely caring about you, as well as the ones you care about.
Family does not need to be blood related, that's a myth.
Family are the people who respect you, like you for who you are and support you along your way.
There is "family", the people in whose care (or not care) you were born, these are your relatives. Some of them may be actual family, but it's valid to cut contact to the ones who are not if you need to.
You have boundaries. You'd respect them in other people, so please do the same to yourself.
And next to "family" (relatives) there is family. Family can be related or not, that doesn't matter. Family is your loved ones, related or not, who even cares about whether you share your genes with them?
There are relatives, there is family. These don't always are the same people, in most people I know there is little to no overlap of relatives and chosen family.
It's valid to not give a damn about the ones you're related to if they've done you wrong or there are any other issues that harm you if you're in contact.
Chosen family is the people you are comfortable around, who you can be your weird self with, who respect you and give you the freedom you need.
In my opinion, this is real family.
Your birth "family" may end up being family or not, you may even end up cutting contact (I did that and it was for the better).
Your chosen family is, in my personal opinion, your real family. They let you be who you are, appreciate you for who you are.
Please never feel bad about cutting contact to toxic/harmful relatives. You deserve to be treated with respect.

Am 12.12.2020 jährt sich das 1,5°C Abkommen von Paris zum fünften mal. Doch in den vergangenen 5 Jahren hat sich nichts verändert. Im Gegenteil: Anfang diesen Jahres ging in Deutschland ein neues Steinkohlekraftwerk ans Netz. Fossile Brennstoffe werden weiterhin mit Milliarden gefördert und in Hessen soll eine neue Autobahn mitten durch einen gesunden, 300 Jahre alten Mischwald und ein Wasserschutzgebiet gebaut werden. Getreu dem Motto "weiter so" findet Klimaschutz weiterhin nicht statt. Deshalb nehmen wir ihn am Dannenröder Forst selbst in die Hand!
Seit zwei Monaten erleben wir Räumungen und Rodungen im Maulbacher Wald, Herrenwald und mittlerweile auch im Dannenröder Forst. Täglich müssen wir dabei zusehen, wie mit brutaler Polizeigewalt und polizeilicher Willkür unser Zuhause zerstört wird. Täglich können wir beobachten, wie hier die Vergangenheit die Zukunft auffrisst: Der deutsche Auto-Kapitalismus ist schon längst ein Auslaufmodell und trotzdem sollen unsere Lebensgrundlagen ihm weichen? Nicht mit uns! Wir wissen:Eine Verkehrswende, geschweige denn Klimagerechtigkeit, schenkt uns keine Landesregierung, erst recht keine schwarz-grüne. Wer 2020 noch immer mit Sachzwängen argumentiert und um jeden Preis neue Autobahnen durch intakte Ökosysteme betoniert, kann es mit dem 1,5 Grad Ziel nicht ernst meinen. Klimagerechtigkeit und Verkehrswende können wir nur selbst erreichen.
Dabei ist der Danni längst zum Symbol für den Kampf gegen das System Auto geworden. Wollen wir weiter mit Vollgas in die Katastrophe rasen? Oder stoppen wir den Wahnsinn hier und jetzt und fordern den sofortigen Ausstieg aus dem Autobahnbau? Unsere Antwort ist klar: Ob in Deutschland angesichts der Klimakrise weitere 850 KM Autobahnen gebaut werden, das entscheidet sich hier und jetzt anhand dieses Waldes.
Deshalb kommt möglichst ab sofort zu uns in den Danni und helft uns den Wald zu verteidigen! Als Wald statt Asphalt Bündnis rufen wir zudem zu einer Aktionswoche vom 4. bis zum 13. Dezember auf. Mit einem bunten und vielfältigen Protest und mit diversen kreativen Aktionsformen werden wir uns den Räumungs- und Rodungsarbeiten in den Weg stellen und den Wald mit unseren Körpern schützen.
Egal ob aktionserfahren oder zum ersten Mal dabei: Durch Aktionstrainings und verschiedene Skillshares findet sich für jede:n die passende Aktionsform, auch ohne jegliche Klettererfahrung. Deswegen packt eure Rucksäcke und kommt alle in den Danni. Denn nur gemeinsam werden wir die Räumung aufhalten, die weitere Rodung verhindern, den Autobahnbau stoppen und die Verkehrswende erkämpfen.

It happens far too regularly that I'm just being left at the stop (wheelchair user) because it's an inconvenience to help me in and out of the subway when they didn't immediately spot me.
If you're a subway driver or any other kind of public transportation worker, please don't be that person. It really sucks and if you do this to disabled people because it takes some time, you suck too.

Abled people are really good at making me feel like I'm nothing but a worthless inconvenience.
I generally try to avoid needing their help whenever possible, but sometimes I can't evade and in ca. 50% of the time they are either super rude, treat me like I'm a child or can't understand them, or they don't help at all/leave me behind. I'm not the only one.
If you're abled, do your part. Educate yourself about ableism. Educate others. Don't leave the work to the oppressed minority.
