An opinion we've seen a few times is that ace and demisexual people shouldn't be part of LGBTQI(A)* because they experience no oppression.
We have been given permission to share someones text about their own experiences.

Speaking as an ace person, MANY people deny the fact that people can dislike sex. Many arguments used towards gays/lesbians are used against ace people in the same way.

"Maybe you just haven't found the right person!"
"How do you know if you have never been with/done ___?"
"Well you're too young to really know!"
"It's just a phase!"
"You just want to be special!"
"How can you be happy living like that?"

Ace people also often get accused of "just being prude" and "going against human nature", or being unable to form loving and meaningful relationships.

Many ace people also fall victim to "corrective rape" to "fix" their asexuality. I myself was victim to sexual assault on multiple occasions due to denying other peoples advances.

The things mentioned are not seldom at all, yet this is only one single experience. There are many ways to be asexual as asexuality is a spectrum.

Often (grey) asexual or demisexual people who can like sexual things under certain circumstances will be invalidated even by fellow aces.

Experiences of asexuality are extremely individual and each of them is valid.

Also nobody should ever be pressured or manipulated into doing sexual things, no matter the reason.

Oppression of ace and demisexual people is real, it's just seen as something "normal" and not questioned at all.
Thing is, just because you don't see something that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
