When a 16-year-old developer realized he had spent five hours binging YouTube Shorts, he saw an opportunity to create a lasting solution to doom scrolling.
His project, YScroll, helps users set daily scrolling limits, track their engagement with short-form video, and become more intentional about their time online.
The Chrome extension already had around 1,500 users, while the week-old mobile app attracted 600 users within its first 10 hours.

Today we are launching Dataset.ET โ an open community initiative to build the largest dataset for Ethiopian languages.
Why this matters:
Most AI systems today barely understand Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, Somali, and many other Ethiopian languages. Without datasets, AI will ignore our languages.
Dataset.ET is changing that.
What we are building:

โข Text datasets
โข Community-validated language corpora
โข Open infrastructure for Ethiopian AI

Looking back at how I started and how it went so far, Iโd consider myself lucky and much of what I have gone through has been a surprising turn of events and I canโt say I had full agency around it all.
But there are 4 types of luck according to articles and books all over the internet. Each of us may find which kind of luck has been affecting our journey lately and lean into it more. For me, I assume the second and the fourth type of luck made my progression more interesting and efficient.
