1 Introduction
Saint Bartholomew (in Aramaic '¿' Bar-
Talmay" = son of Tolmai) is one of the
12 apostles. In John's Gospel, he is called Nathanael-the two names refer to the same person. Philip brought him to Jesus saying "Come and see."
2 Meeting Jesus
Philip told Nathanael, " We have found the one Moses and the prophets wrote about." Nathanael asked, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Jesus saw Nathanael and said, Here is a true Israelite-in whom there is no deceit. " Nathanael believed saying,
"You are the King of Israel."
3 Apostolic Mission
After the Resurrection, Bartholomew preached in various countries-said to have preached in India, Armenia, and Persia. In Matthew's Gospel listing, he is always mentioned with Philip-the two were said to be close friends.
Martyrdom
Bartholomew was martyred in Armenia (or India, some say). He was flayed-his skin removed, one of the most terrible tortures. Therefore, in paintings he is depicted holding his skin. He didn't deny his faith-he died for Christ.
5 Honor in Ethiopia
In Ethiopia, Bartholomew is commemorated on Meskerem 1-with Enkutatash. On this day, many churches celebrate both feasts.

Ethiopia.
6 Modern Significance
Bartholomew is the patron saint of the Armenian Church. Called a 'true Israelite" by Jesus, this shows the depth of his faith. His feast is celebrated on Meskerem 1.

It's a new sun. It's a new chance.
This is a heartfelt wish to everyone who's been here on the lookout, and a personal note to help us all mark this day and the tension with it in the near future.
2018 EC passed as one of the most incredible years of my life. It had been a year I dared enough and had the most fun doing what I love and what I am known for.
The year had only one $0 month and a sustained full-time job commitment. I was also able to incorporate my own company in the US and share my apps with my audience. It featured successful partnerships, such as with the Apple Developer Account expense-sharing model and helpful end-to-end user acceptance testing on apps that we built and shipped.
Financially speaking, the year maintained consistent income and flexibility. It's the year I finally realized I could afford some risky purchase ideas and cool gadgets.
2019 EC begins as I am getting ready for a self-sponsored medical trip to India. This will be the first time I get to check the plausibility of surgical interventions for my complex congenital heart defects. The moment is filled with a lot of stress and uncertainty and it sure is one of the hardest times my family has to endure.
2019 EC begins with hope and excitement for a healthy and better day coming. I hope to see myself stronger and more resilient. I hope to reduce ER visit frequency in the long run. I hope my heart will be good enough for the occasional stairs I have to climb and some strenuous activities I must do as an adult.
So I'm happy that 2018 EC ended with a bigger agenda I can pursue in the coming year and I'm also grateful for the path that led me to this point. In everything, I have seen God’s grace and mercy. And I hope to witness it more in the miracles I am expecting to see in my life.
I'd like to thank everyone who's crossed paths with me. Family has been the greatest source of motivation and a big why for my persistence. I have friends who I share every little detail of my plans and struggles with and I want to deeply thank each of them. God has shown me why certain things went in a certain way and I am pretty sure His plans are grander and more perfect.
I'd like to thank my doctor Dr. Rick Hodes for giving me such hope when I needed it the most. He has done greater stuff the past decades and he keeps showing up for the unfortunate. Thank you for doing this.
