I turned out to be a mini copy of Dad, and I am grateful. He's the father figure I needed to build a resilient mind and an honest heart.

I remember the days when he used to wake up early and study for his classes, while I got up to do my homework and study for exams. I modeled him and it paid off, I guess.

Move out
Best case scenario: you establish an independent life and become a successful "adult"
Worst case scenario: you fail to maintain yourself out there. Fortunately you only go back to where you started a year ago... But with very valuable life lessons.

Stay with your parents
Best case: you save money, you support your parents
Worst case: you're extremely dependent and spent 1 more adult year not knowing how to take care of yourself. And yeah somehow your still broke.

For me actually, helping my parents and siblings is one of the reasons I’d stay here for a while. Also, I need people around for health reasons, but that’s not the point.

I can cook and do some chores if I have to and I was the one taking care of a good deal of my family with cooking and dishes while I was in high school, because there was no one to do the work. I used to pack lunchboxes for all of us, do the dishes, cook meals, and take care of my youngest siblings.

I can be dependable and I’m independent for the most part. I guess I don’t need to explain my reasoning, but I am not avoiding moving out because I’m scared I would starve to death or would have no money to pay for rent.

As I said, if it was not for the critical health conditions, I would have been riding solo.

What I found helpful tho, as Zero puts it, you can retire your Dad easily if you’re there with them at home and look what’s missing and what should be there for the family.

As someone who’s from a lower middle class family, my support would mean something and I’m doing this happily. The expense I categorized as Family on Ledgerly is the one I am most proud of as it is a huge indication for how I have grown to be independent, plus dependable.

I love my parents too unlike most of you 😭😅
