To support the multi-currency feature in Ledgerly, internally everything is based in USD. That’s why you need to choose Exchange Mode and set it accordingly.

For beta testing purposes, I decided to let users enter API keys for third-party services, but now I’m feeling like it was the worst decision I made in my entire career building journey. Testers don’t seem to understand how Ledgerly works.

Third-party API services will be behind paywalls for the coming versions and I will make sure I at least support the Official Exchange Mode with the free tier.

This is my first mistake as a founder. All documented here. Maybe I’m not as cracked as I used to think I was.

I’m on ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro

I found Codex to be familiar with my workflow and projects, so I had to resume my subscription after switching to Claude. And ChatGPT itself has better context of the ins-and-outs of my life.

I found Claude useful in designing carousels and screenshot assets I use for marketing purposes and App Store/Google Play submission forms. I also use it for social media management at one of my jobs.
Polygamy sometimes work. But not with the fashion models. Only with the AI models.

I hate it when Claude says “You’re absolutely right”

ChatGPT wouldn’t. It rather gaslights me.

Ledgerly iOS Beta 1.0(2) is out 🥳

This version removes the need to enter API keys for third-party services, such as those for exchange rates and real-time investment pricing. It also deprecates the AI insights feature for now.

We need to rest as a community I guess

@Robi_makes_stuff (Robi) made the macOS client of Odit open source. I just forked it, and I will see if I can help him ship it to the App Store or other stores (since macOS apps do not need to be from the App Store necessarily). I personally admire Robi and his attention to detail when it comes to UI/UX. I may nudge him to take this project seriously and maintain his support, because I assume there is a lot to be done.

When it comes to automatic sync of financial insight, both Totals (from Detached Space) and Odit made their way around, and it is joyful to see how creative they got with it all to bypass the App Store policies.

Ledgerly and these two products do not solve the same problem. And if we are talking business, I don’t think our market niche is similar to each other’s. At the end of the day, the community wins in having options to choose from according to their needs and priorities.

Treat this as the first memo I write after fully accepting to father Odit for Apple ecosystem from the Odit-pappa himself.
