After WWII, Sobel returned to Chicago, married, had three sons, and worked as a credit manager for a telephone company. He also served in the Korean War. 🪖

But life after combat was difficult.

In 1970, Sobel attempted suicide, surviving but left blind with brain damage from a gunshot wound. He spent his final years in a VA facility in Illinois.

He died in 1987, age 75. His legacy remains controversial — hated by some, credited by others for preparing Easy to survive.
