Hundreds of Brits vanish from Swiss ski resort after being ordered into quarantine amid new covid 19 strain scare

Authorities in the Swiss canton of Valais have been left perplexed as hundreds of UK tourists vanished into thin air after the Swiss government ordered them into 10-day quarantine amid concerns over a new Covid-19 strain. Verbier, a Swiss ski resort extremely popular among wealthy British tourists, has suddenly seen about half the Brits who came there to spend their Christmas holidays disappear without a trace.

The strange incident appears to be little but an act of defiance, though, as the Swiss authorities had earlier imposed a retroactive 10-day quarantine on all arrivals from the UK, backdated to include all those who had landed in the Alpine country since December 14. Announced just ahead of Christmas, the move appeared not to have gone down well with the British holidaymakers.

Strong eruption at Suwanosejima volcano, Alert Level raised, Japan

A strong explosive eruption took place at Suwanosejima's Mt. Otake crater at 17:51 UTC on December 27, 2020 (02:51 JST, December 28). As a result, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) raised the Alert Level from 2 to 3 -- Near-crater warning, do not approach the volcano -- at 17:56 UTC.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

JMA said large rocks were thrown some 1.3 km (0.8 miles) from the crater and warned they could affect an area of about 2 km (1.2 miles) from the crater at any time.

A dense dark ash plume rose to approximately 1.8 km (6 000 feet) a.s.l., drifting SE.

Lin Qi, executive producer on 'Game of Thrones' creators' new Netflix series, dead at 39 by alleged poisoning

The story he was working on revolves around humanity’s first contact with an alien race...

Lin was the chairman and CEO of Yoozoo Group, which he founded in 2009. The company was working with the TV creators on an adaptation of a science fiction series based on "The Three-Body Problem" trilogy of novels by Chinese author Liu Cixin.

The company confirmed the news of its CEO’s death in a statement. Lin was hospitalized on Dec. 16 and doctors quickly determined he had been poisoned. He died on Christmas Day.

Pope Formally Strips Vatican Secretariat of State of Assets

Pope Francis has formally stripped the Vatican secretariat of state of its financial assets and real estate holdings following its bungled management of hundreds of millions of euros in donations and investments that are now the subject of a corruption investigation.

Francis signed a new law over the weekend ordering the secretariat of state to complete the transfer of all its holdings to another Vatican office by Feb. 4. The law also calls for all donations to the pope — the Peter’s Pence collections from the faithful as well as other donations that had been managed by the secretariat of state — to be held and managed by the Vatican’s treasury office as separate funds that are accounted for in the Holy See’s consolidated budget.

In 1981, Styx was accused of putting the backward message "Satan move through our voices" on the song "Snowblind", from Paradise Theatre.

“Hotel California,” an ode to devil worship, contains this startlingly formal backward message: “Yes, Satan organized his own religion.”

And in the “Stairway To Heaven?” chapter, Zep’s classic tune is full of backward messages like: “So here’s to my sweet Satan.”

The last man to share a cell with Jeffrey Epstein died last month in a Bronx apartment after catching coronavirus at a jail for cooperating witnesses.

Efrain “Stone” Reyes, 51, was found dead in bed on Nov. 27 at his mother’s apartment, the NYPD confirmed. In August 2019 he shared a cell with Epstein, only to be transferred to the privately-run Queens Detention Facility the day before the accused sex trafficker hanged himself, according to his family and Bureau of Prisons records.
