China’s threats to use military force to stop Taiwan from declaring formal independence have dogged the island’s markets for years, and the standoff in Ukraine provides a snapshot of the risks if tensions escalate. Global funds dumped the equivalent of $1.91 billion of Taiwan stocks on Thursday, the biggest one-day withdrawal in a year.

AN EPIDEMIC OF CARDIAC ARRESTS - OVER 20,000 EXCESS CALLS IN 2021
A weekly report from the 10 English ambulance trusts shows numbers of calls for cardiac or respiratory arrests. The two are grouped together as it is not always clear whether a cardiac arrest was precipitated by a respiratory arrest. The data shows two anomalies:

1.) A significant rise in arrest calls since spring 2021, and;
2.) A significant rise in the number of expected arrest calls in the baseline figure.

The latter is important as deciding whether there is a problem is critically dependent on knowing what “normal” levels should be. There is no text in the reports detailing why the baseline has shifted so dramatically (YOU ALREADY KNOW WHY 💉💉💉). The expected number of daily arrest calls rose suddenly in March by about 50 per day – around 30% higher than before. [ Article ]

“Weird foraging party that relies on carrier bags being available where they find supplies. Pretty odd for just two soldiers to be alone in hostile territory also. Extremely vulnerable, especially when one has carrier bags in both hands and the other has a swinging carrier bag on his trigger hand. It would be remarkable if professionally trained soldiers did this. I would expect no less than 6-8 men in a foraging team and goods would be carried in packs that leave both hands free. This is not what it purports to be IMHO.”

US official: Russian invasion of Ukraine risks release of dangerous pathogens

“I would say from every facility that we have worked with them in, we have confidence that as long as the electrical power is turned on and the people we have trained are present at the facility, the biosafety officers, that these pathogens are safe and secure to international standards,” Pope said. “Should these facilities be damaged by conflict, that could change.”

The pathogens with which the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program labs work are generally kept frozen, so they can’t replicate and become infectious. The risk the pathogens pose would increase if a building lost power and suffered damage. “If you lose the electrical power, the pathogens in the freezers warm up,” he said. “If the ventilation system is damaged or the building itself is damaged and these now ambient-temperature pathogens are able to escape the facility, then they can be potentially infectious in the region around the facility.”
