Scientists Can Now Use Eye Movements To Detect Signs Of Illness Using Machine Learning

Researchers from DTU have found a new way to examine data from eye trackers.

“Our data-driven method is based on machine learning and can contribute to the diagnosis of patients and to determining whether a treatment or – further down track – newly developed medicine has the desired effect,” says Paolo Masulli, a former postdoc at DTU Compute and now employed by iMotions, who has been involved in developing software for data analysis and modeling of the biometric data.

Intense Tropical Cyclone "Batsirai" hits Madagascar, destroying entire villages

Tropical Cyclone "Batsirai" made landfall between Nosy-Varika and Mananjary on the east coast of Madagascar around 17:00 UTC on February 5, 2022. At the time of landfall, Batsiari was Category 3 hurricane equivalent on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale with minimum central pressure of 944 hPa.
While damage assessment is still in progress, Batsirai's destructive winds and heavy rain devastated the landfall area, destroying homes, causing power outages and leaving at least 6 people dead. However, officials fear the number will rise in the days ahead.

Red alerts issued for parts of Iceland as intense snow and blizzards hit the country

Parts of Iceland were placed on Red Alert on Monday, February 7, 2022, due to a violent bomb cyclone affecting the country today. Wind gusts could reach up to 200 km/h (124 mph).
Red Alert for weather was issued for South Iceland and Faxafloi - Southwest Iceland.
Orange Alert is in effect for Breidafjordur - Westnorthwest Iceland, Westfjords, Northwest Iceland, Northeast Iceland, East Iceland, Eastfjords, Southeast Iceland and Central highlands - Uninhabited part of Iceland.
Faxaflói and South can expect winds with speeds between 85 - 110 km/h (55 - 70 mph), snow, and blowing snow. Sleet or rain are expected closest to shore. There is a high risk of damages and contractors are encouraged to secure building sites.
