G-d's First Commandment to Abraham

Circumcision is the first commandment given by G‑d to Abraham, the first Jew, and is a central part of Judaism. Abraham, the father of the Jewish people, served G‑d righteously for many years. However, it was only after he was circumcised by order of Di-5 at the age of ninety-nine that he was able to reach the highest level of biblical perfection of "and you shall be perfect" (Genesis 17:1).
