The good people of Kilkenny gathered tonight. A core group of 40-50 people met up to voice their concerns. One of the people who spoke initially was against us. She came over and ask her friends to do the same. They refused. She was given a chance to speak and she shared with us that she was made homeless by the hotel. The hotel cancelled her, we presume, council contract to provide her accommodation and it was cancelled to accommodate foreigners. She explicitly stated she supports refugees. This lady received a round of applause. Other speeches were given by Darren Fahy, Pól the Organiser and myself, Stephen Delaney. We are all locals and all attendees were local too. We explained to the crowd that their presence on the street tonight means that Kilkenny Says No! Luke O’Connor, the organiser of Sundays event advised people to bring national flags friends and family. 2pm Sunday, council buildings John Street lower.

The fine people of Kirkby came out in their droves to protest at The Suites Hotel where migrants have been placed. The police decided to place a riot van unattended in the middle of the crowd, knowing full well emotions were high. The riot van was then set on fire and the police left it to burn. The police and those in control of them knew exactly what they were doing.
