Warning ⚠️ Graphic: In Africa - Mali following an assault by Wagner PMC with Local forces attempting to capture the city of Tinzawatene, a counter attack my Milian rebels has appeared to killed reportedly 20 fighters, also claims of downing a MI-24 Chopper. Interestingly that Vehicle is a Chinese made VP-11 MRAP.
This took place on the Mali, Algerian border, these rebel forces are the Tuareg rebels who work across Libya, Niger, Algeria, Mali and is not the first time Wagner and this group clashed.

I was a PMV/MRAP commander in Afghan,
Ambush in the open like that can be absolutely devastating. You get a few vehicles down and chaos begins it'll be a blood bath. We have seen very similar happen to elite American special forces ambushed in Niger.
These radical jihadist groups have been very successful with this and have a lot of experience,
Hate Wagner all you like, Tuareg is likely not your friend.
The vehicle's typical drill for this would be to continue and try and push through the killzone, bypass any killed vehicles, turn and attempt to fight/flank the ambush.
That said terrain can make this impossible.
This is why ambush is deadly.. because it is at the ground of the Ambushers choosing.
It can also be a 'Complex Ambush' for example you would set off an IED to hit a vehicle that may block the path, then silence, the crew and a rescue crew will disembark the damaged vehicle at that point the enemy ambush with weapons fire.
