Valborg is a day where all Germanic countries apart from two, England and Switzerland, celebrate the coming of spring. A tradition that has its roots in the celebration and worship of the Germanic fertility goddess Freyja. A large bonfire is ignited, consisting of dead trees and branches, to burn away the old remains and celebrate the new, the birth of spring.
