Russia Offers Dual-Payment Scheme To India
Moscow has offered a dual payment plan to India whereby New Delhi will be allowed to pay for Russian oil in USD or Euros, while using a rupee-ruble mechanism for other trade.
Russian Central Bank and Sberbank representatives met with their Indian counterparts to discuss the plan last week - with no decision formally announced yet.
India currently has a reported $5.5BN trade deficit with Russia, including $3BN in oil and petroleum products.
