Daily Summary of events at The Peopleโ€™s Convoy
Thursday, March 24
As told by 2* Santa

Santa was in camp today, trying to fix the flagpoles on his truck, which suffered in the drenching rain yesterday. The driver of a converted school bus sawed off two braces from his bus to use for the repair. Then a Texas oil field worker showed up with welding equipment and completed the job.

Thereโ€™s just nothing these people canโ€™t do!

A legal contact of one driver discovered that blocking all the exits from a freeway, as the Metro police have been doing, is illegal. There was talk of making a citizenโ€™s arrest of the mayor, which found its way into print.

Today, the exits werenโ€™t blocked.

Santa told the story of a woman distraught at the news that her wounded warrior brother, a Marine veteran, was so moved by the Convoy that he was hitchhiking in from West Virginia, a risky prospect for the man. One Convoy member offered to go retrieve him from the road and drive him safely down to Hagerstown. Money was contributed for gas, and just like that, another victory of love and cooperation.

The operators of the Hagerstown Speedway have been mega-patriots all this time, even cancelling one of their races in order to accommodate the Convoy. But spring racing season is approaching, and there will likely be a Plan B location in the future.

For now, the Convoy has shifted to the back of the Speedway property to allow for a race this weekend.
