The suspected was killed in a shootout and later identified as Mohamed Jalloh, a former Army National Guardsmen migrant from Sierra Leone.
Jalloh had previously been arrested in 2016 for attempting to join and provide material support to the terrorist organization ISIS. He was convicted in federal court, and released from federal prison in 2024
