Happy New Year from WeMakeDevs 🎉
2025 was about building, learning, shipping, and showing up for each other.
Thousands of devs. Countless commits. A lot of late nights that turned into real progress.
In 2026, we go bigger. More open source. More learning. More community. More wins together.
If you wrote your first line of code with us or shipped something you’re proud of, this space is yours. Let’s make it count!

Are SRE jobs in danger? I saw a billboard for incident.io that hints at a major shift.
Beyond just automating boring admin tasks directly in Slack, they're building an "AI SRE" for 2026.
It actually uses patterns from past crashes to help fix new ones instantly.
It might not replace us yet, but it’s definitely the future of debugging, check out the tech deep dive here: https://fandf.co/3Lokpzr

A massive congratulations to the winners of the Backend Reloaded Hackathon! 🏆
The projects submitted were nothing short of amazing. Watching you build complex backend systems using Motia was inspiring for our whole team.
To be honest, it was an incredibly tough call. The projects were judged directly by the Motia team members, and there were many factors to consider. In the end, the winners were chosen because they demonstrated the most impressive and innovative use cases for Motia.
All submitted projects will be highlighted on our website soon. Everyone who submitted a project will receive a certificate of participation to add to your portfolio.
We aren't stopping here! We have more hackathons coming next month. Make sure to visit our website and sign up for our newsletter so you don't miss the announcement.

Do you know about the “streaming vs batch” debate?
Data is usually handled in two separate ways: you either process it the second it arrives, or you wait and do it all at once later. The annoying part is these two approaches don’t always play nicely together, which creates a lot of extra work for anyone building or using data systems.
👉 Register for this session with Giannis Polyzos to see how a project called Fluss is trying to fix this: https://fandf.co/4aMIJ8B

AI projects fail 80%+ of the time!
Honestly, it’s because we gotta stop pretending AI is magic. It’s just math. And if you feed it messy data, it’s gonna give you messy answers (or just straight up lie to you).
Just read this O’Reilly report on why structured context is actually the secret sauce for AI agents.
There’s a case study in here about NBIM saving like 200k+ hours a year just by getting their data structure right with dbt Labs and Claude. That is… a lot of hours.
👉 Download it here and stay ahead: https://fandf.co/4phN0UX

Stop moving your data back and forth between databases and AI stacks, it’s slow, expensive, and a security headache.
This video breaks down how to run AI models and agents directly where your data already lives to kill latency for good.

We strongly believe in learning in public.
During the Backend Reloaded hackathon, these 10 folks didn’t just build with Motia, they shared their journey openly on social media: what they tried, what broke, and what they shipped.
As promised, swag is on the way to our top 10 winners. Stay tuned, more hackathons and community events coming soon.

$6,000 in cash prizes + confirmed job / intern interviews for winners. Our first online hackathon of 2026 is officially live!
The UI Strikes Back 🚀 Build generative UI applications with the power of Tambo.
Users shouldn’t have to learn an app just to get something done. With generative UI, your React app adapts to the user in real time. The AI decides which components to render based on natural language, showing the right UI at the right moment.
👉 More than 50% of participants are first-timers, so you won’t be alone. You can register solo or as a team: https://www.wemakedevs.org/hackathons/tambo
May the components be with you.

You need to learn about serverless GPUs.
You package your model as a container and expose it as an API. GPUs run only when requests come in, scale automatically with traffic, and shut down when idle, so you don’t pay for unused capacity.
