Most people in Palm Coast have no idea what is actually being built in Town Center right now… but this is a big one.
A data center is officially under construction, and it is directly tied to Google’s transatlantic cable called Sol. That cable is currently being laid across the Atlantic Ocean and will land right here in Flagler Beach before connecting underground to Palm Coast.
This is real infrastructure. Not speculation.
But here is where it gets interesting.
The size of this facility changed multiple times during planning. Early plans showed a building over fifty thousand square feet. Later versions showed over forty six thousand square feet combined with equipment areas.
The final approved building came in at thirty four thousand eight hundred seventy five square feet. Just under the forty thousand square foot threshold that would have required a public hearing.
That means the project was approved administratively, with no public input.
On the land side, DC Blox originally purchased thirty four acres. They later sold seven acres to a company called Tarpon Services, which is the entity that filed the Phase One site plan. DC Blox still owns the remaining twenty seven acres for future expansion.
Right now, what you are seeing built is Phase One.
The long term vision is much bigger.
This project connects Palm Coast directly into global internet infrastructure. That has the potential to bring more business, more jobs, and more long term growth to this area.
But it also raises real questions about scale, transparency, and what comes next.
This is exactly the kind of development that shapes a city.
If you live here, you should understand it.
