Winter Soup Soirée (Rescheduled)

Come and fill that liminal, post-holiday void with… soup!  (And other stuff, of course.)  We’ll be gathering at the Masontown UMC’s youth center on January 10, right when soup’s warmth is needed most—all the while playing fun games, watching classic movies and eating good food.

Furs will be here as early as noon, but food will start around 4:00 P.M.  Water, cups and long straws will be provided by MSF.  Everything else is up to y’all!  (It is a potluck, after all.)  Oh, and there’ll be a soup contest, as hinted in the title. 👀🍲

In addition to the general socialization and feasting, we’ll set up some activities around the room.  Details to come.

Get some food and check out the Paw Paw Tunnel in our first-ever Eastern Panhandle meet! This little excursion will be led by Leonardo, a local familiar with the now-defunct C&O Canal tunnel.

At 11:00 A.M., Feb. 28, we’ll meet at Big & Tiny’s Tavern in Paw Paw for a pre-walk meal. At 1:00 P.M., we’ll cross into Maryland to regroup at the tunnel trailhead. (Though the tunnel is technically in Maryland, it’s most often associated with the West Virginian town of Paw Paw.) We’ll walk the towpath for some amount of time and get photos.

There are two Waffle Houses in West Virginia, and they’re both in Huntington.  For the more northerly of us, that’s quite the drive.  You know what isn’t?  Washington, Pennsylvania!  Yup—we’re going out-of-state!

We’ll be meeting at the Murtland Avenue Waffle House parking lot around 10:30 A.M., getting brunch around 11:00 A.M., then heading to the mall at Tanger around 1:00 P.M. Carpooling to, from and within the event is encouraged; we might meet in Morgantown to facilitate that. Itinerary details and more can be found at the following link.

Make sure to RSVP on our website at no cost if you’re coming to brunch. We need at least a rough headcount—plus, there’s not a whole lot of physical space. The mall portion of the meet is less restrictive and doesn’t need an RSVP.

SB 590 just passed the WV Senate. Its purposefully ambiguous language can be used to criminalize public, family-friendly outings by fursuiters. Though WE know fursuiting itself isn’t of a “prurient nature” as described in the bill, not everyone is on the same page. Phone your Delegates and make your opinion heard before it passes the House.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the second Oak Hill Furbowl will be postponed. We’ll be working with Pinheads to reschedule this event to a time and date that’s still convenient. Ticket refunds will be processed within the next couple days; check your e-Mail inbox for details. MSF appreciates your understanding and empathy.

On Saturday the 28th at 2PM West FURginia (WFUR) and Fairmont State Furs (FSF) will be travelling to the Launch Pad Trampoline Park in Westover WV just a mile or two from Morgantown. We will travel to Dairy Creme Corner in Fairmont for some ice cream and snacks before the event so please bring $25~ for the park and socks, anything else you bring is for food money at DCC. We will be taking group photos at DCC and at the Park!

Fursuits are welcome but be aware you may be asked to remove them for safety reasons during jumping at the park.

This month’s highlights include a relaxing picnic on the Mountainlair Green, come hang out, enjoy some fresh air, and spend time with friends! Second Annual Memorial Day Barbecue

Get ready for summer with our second annual Memorial Day barbecue! We’ll be set up inside and around the Anderson Activity Center at Holly River State Park all day, chowing down on freshly grilled foods and partaking in a whole bunch of activities. Swimming, hiking, an all-new Fursuit Games, a couple rounds of Jeopawdy!—so much to choose from!

If last year was any indication, tickets are gonna go fast! The base $15 Attending ticket guarantees you two hot dogs, a hamburger and access to all the activities; the $25 Sponsor ticket gets you some extra perks, like an exclusive laminated badge. Purchase tickets on our website.

If you’re on a bit of a constrained schedule and can only attend the actual barbecue social portion of this meet, that will be between 6:00 P.M.–7:30 P.M. The grill will be fired up right at 6:00 P.M.; come a bit earlier than that if you want pre-meal socialization.

INVADE!! Come along for a riverfront furry take over, camping excursion! We have ALL OF THE SITES to pitch your tent, hang out by the river, and eat some s'mores around the fire pit. Bring your own beer. You can explore trails during the day and come back to a hot meal under the stars. This is a fursuit friendly event! We will be tent camping.

When: Check in June 12 at 1:00 PM - Check out June 14 at 12:00 PM. There is no rain date.
Deposit (sliding scale): $65 - $80 per person if you plan to stay for two nights.
Your deposit is refundable until 5/1, a little more than 4 weeks before the trip. After 5/1 you will not be able to be refunded. It is transferable if you are not able to make it. Your contribution goes toward:

Official camping communication will occur through email, but please join the NEW Silica Discord Server for casual conversation, coordinating with other campers, and if you are interested in being a camp cook! Announcements will be cross posted between email and Discord. While an email will be sent out with all the different site information on it, there will be a poll will be on Discord so we can evenly spread throughout the camping sites.
