     Tag question
- A tag question is a grammatical construction where a short question is added to the end of statement, transforming it into a question.
- Tag questions are used to confirm information or seek agreement.

     Forms of tag questions
- Tag questions usually consist of an auxiliary verb (or a form of ‘to be’) followed by a subject pronoun.
-Polarity: The polarity of the tag (positive or negative) typically contrasts with the main statement.
E.g. - You are coming, aren't you?
Positive statement, negative tag
        - She is not here, is she?
Negative statement, positive tag.

- The tense and auxiliary verb in the tag must match the main verb of the statement.
E.g. - They have finished, haven't they?
        - He can swim, can't he?

- Subject Pronoun: The subject in the tag should be the pronoun form of the subject in the main statement.
E.g. - John is going, isn't he?
(Subject of the statement has changed to its pronoun form, i.e. John - he)
        - The dogs are barking, aren't they?
(The Pronoun form of DOGS is THEY.)

     Rules
A.  Positive and negative tags
- A positive statement uses a negative tag.
E.g. It is cold today, isn't it?
It is raining, isn't it?
They are happy, aren't they?
- A negative statement uses a positive tag.
E.g. - She is not reading now, is she?
        - He is not happy today, is he?
        - They are not coming with us, are they?

B. Statement with auxiliaries.
E.g. - He Cannot swim, Can he?
        - Hassen will come, won't he?

C. Statement without auxiliaris.
E.g. - Rivers flow towards sea, don't they?
        - The sun shines hot in Winter, doesn't it?
        - Abebe Bikila broke the world Marathon, didn't he?

D1. statements using auxiliaries
E.g. - It has rained recently, hasn't it?
        - The leaves have fallen down, haven't they?

D2. Statements using main verb
( has/ have/ had )
- These verbs use 'verb to do' forms in tag question. (#This_form_is_as_possession, #not_as_action.)
E.g. - A zebra has a beautiful colour, doesn't it?
        - Ethiopians have great respect for guests, don't they?

E. Statements with negative words use positive tags.
- (no, none, never, not, neither...)
E.g. My uncle never smokes, does he?
- (hardly, scarcely, little, few, rarely...)
E.g. Lemma speaks little English, does he?
(= He doesn't speak English, does he?)

F. Statements having a few, a little are positive. Therefore, they use negative tags.
E.g. She did a little shopping, didn't she?
