India’s Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved the procurement of 114 Rafale multi-role fighter aircraft along with SCALP long-range cruise missiles and additional P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to strengthen the Indian Armed Forces’ operational capabilities.

The deal, estimated at around ₹3.25 lakh crore, will include 88 single-seat and 26 twin-seat variants.
Of the 114 jets, 18 will be delivered in fly-away condition, while the remaining aircraft will be manufactured domestically, with 96 jets expected to be built in India under the Make in India initiative.
