π¨ Privacy Alert for Claude AI Users
If you've ever used Claude's Share feature, check your shared chats immediately.
Over the weekend, users discovered that many public Claude share links were indexed by Google, making conversations searchable instead of only accessible to people with the link.
Some indexed chats reportedly contained:
β’ API keys and credentials
β’ Crypto wallet information
β’ Resumes with names, addresses, and phone numbers
β’ Internal company documents
β’ Legal discussions
β’ Other sensitive personal information
This wasn't a hack. The affected chats were shared publicly using Claude's Share feature. The issue is that search engines were able to index many of those public pages, making them much easier to discover.
If you've ever shared a Claude conversation:
1. Open Settings
2. Go to Privacy β Your Data
3. Open Shared Chats
4. Delete or unshare anything containing personal, financial, or confidential information

β’ Anthropic: https://privacy.claude.com/en/articles/10593882-share-and-unshare-chats
Update: Anthropic appears to have addressed the issue on Google, and many shared Claude chats have been deindexed from Google Search. However, users have reported that some links are still discoverable through other search engines such as Bing and Brave Search. Regardless of search indexing, any active public share link remains accessible to anyone who has the URL until it is unshared or deleted

PSA: AI Share Links Are More Public Than Most People Think
A lot of people assume that when they click Share in ChatGPT or Claude, they're sending a private conversation to one specific person.
That's not how it works.
A share link creates a public webpage. Anyone who gets that link can open it. It's not tied to the recipient's account and it isn't protected like a private message.
The recent Claude incident highlighted another risk: many shared pages were indexed by Google, making conversations searchable by people who were never meant to see them.
Before sharing an AI conversation:
β’ Remove names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails.
β’ Never include passwords, API keys, recovery codes, or financial information.
β’ Assume that anything behind a share link could eventually be seen by someone other than the intended recipient.
Share links are for sharing contentβnot storing secrets.

The Leyu Data Collection Competition invites students, researchers, developers, innovators, and language communities across Ethiopia to help change that.
Using the Leyu Data Collection Platform, participants will collect and contribute 10 hours of high-quality language data in an Ethiopian language, helping build the datasets needed to power the next generation of AI for Ethiopia's diverse languages.
π Registration closes: July 31
π Competition runs: August 1β21
π Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three participants, with the grand prize of 100,000 ETB.
