Theo Von asks Duncan Trussell if he still has hope as a parent, watching what technology is doing to everyone. His answer isn't what you'd expect.

TRUSSELL: "I will never stop loving existence, and I know that people are good. In Buddhism it's called fundamental goodness. That underneath the fear is goodness.

"When you're around a baby, when you're around your kids, you get to see that. You get to see a brand new human before the windshield gets covered in splattered fear bugs that begin to define their personality.

"As a parent, you can't keep those bugs from splattering on the windshield. That's going to happen. But you can at least help them understand that love is eternal."

Then he names what those fear bugs actually are:

TRUSSELL: "Satan depends on us building up that energy. Making it big and scary. It's the monster under the bed. Darkness. All you have to do is flip on the light."

"The more we focus on that darkness and all of its complexity and all of its sophistication and all of its tricks and deviousness, and deception, the more powerful it becomes.

"The moment you just turn in to the present moment, and in your own heart, and the people you love, it's like the light turns on."

The bugs hit the windshield either way. The goodness was there first.
