Vitalik：EF Is Not Ethereum’s Center, but a Smaller Node With a Clear Mission
Vitalik Buterin said the Ethereum Foundation is not the “center” of Ethereum, but one node with a clearly defined purpose. He said the EF will become smaller, more long-term-oriented and more opinionated, focusing its limited resources on Ethereum’s core priorities, including censorship resistance, capture resistance, openness, privacy and security, rather than broadly taking on ecosystem-building functions.
He added that ETH is Ethereum’s most financially valuable product, but some of the work needed to support ETH as an asset falls outside the EF’s scope and should be carried by other organizations in the ecosystem.
Vitalik also disclosed that around 90% of his net worth remains in ETH, while the remaining roughly $40 million in on-chain fiat funds has been fully allocated to open-source research and technology projects.
Vitalik said smart contract wallets and privacy protocols still rely on third-party relays for on-chain transaction inclusion, creating vulnerabilities and fragility. He said FOCIL, EIP-8141 and EIP-7701 aim to rebuild the public transaction mempool, reduce relay dependence, support privacy transactions and cryptographic signatures, and enable peer-to-peer direct inclusion. — link
