Rapid antigen test: the viral load is decisive

"The Ct value played an important role in this. This indicates how infectious a person is. The lower this value, the higher the viral load in a sample. All of the above tests indicated a highly infectious person, that is, a Ct value of less than 25, with 100 percent probability. Even with a Ct value of 25 to 30, i.e. less infectious persons, the tests were 75 percent correct. This also means that the lower the viral load, the lower the probability that a test will detect the virus.

However, even with a high viral load, 26 of the rapid tests failed. Among them are:

Antigen-Schnelltest: die Viruslast ist entscheidend

"Der Ct-Wert spielt dabei eine wichtige Rolle. Dieser gibt an, wie infektiös eine Person ist. Je niedriger dieser Wert ist, desto höher ist die Viruslast in einer Probe. Alle genannten Tests zeigten mit 100-prozentiger Wahrscheinlichkeit eine hochinfektiöse Person an, also einen Ct-Wert von unter 25. Selbst bei einem Ct-Wert von 25 bis 30, also bei weniger infektiösen Personen, lagen die Tests zu 75 Prozent richtig. Das bedeutet auch: Je niedriger die Viruslast ist, desto geringer ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass ein Test das Virus nachweist.

Die Spanische Grippe kam aus den USA
Die Spanische Grippe, die von 1918 bis 1920 bis zu 50 Millionen Todesopfer forderte, hatte ursprünglich wenig mit Spanien zu tun. Die Epidemie begann Anfang 1918 in Haskell County im US-Bundesstaat Kansas. Ihren "spanischen Namen" erhielt sie sozusagen aus politischen Gründen: Wegen der Pressezensur in den kriegführenden Staaten wie den USA wurde dort kaum etwas über die anschwellende Grippewelle berichtet. Von dort stammen auch die meisten Augenzeugenberichte.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder is sounding the alarm over rising infection figures, comparing the corona crisis to an apocalypse. "If ten is the apocalypse, we are at nine," Söder told Bild-Live on Tuesday morning.
Asked if this was also a failure of politics, Söder replied, "There would be a very simple way to solve the problem and that is vaccination."
"Politics can't help why people don't get vaccinated," Söder continued. Thus, he said, everyone who dies from Corona is "an unfortunate case, not a victim of too slow a policy."
Söder favors mandatory vaccination for nursing and hospital staff and in soccer. A general vaccination obligation, however, he rejects according to own data.
